Title: Does Symphony of the Night get better?
Post by: Mondain on November 13, 2006, 02:25:42 PM
right now it sez 21% completion, pretty great game so far but im sick as hell of the corny horror music that only seems to get worse as levels go

love the controls but it's so stupid when you hit a enemy and rebound in a ton of others that all hit you before you have the chance of fighting back

right now im trying to go through a level with giant skeleton faces and i must go through a platform to get to the far left of the screen but it falls apart and it's friggin' impossible to get to the last platform without falling... fuck what do i gotta do

anyhow does this game get more gripping or it's always a walk in the park?

Dracula-X is better, go get the .iso and play it

Last classic Castlevania FTW

Saturn import os SOTN was better IMHO

Playable maria

Not so much that it's bothersome, it's also got bigger sprites and a few more effects.

Get better? Sure. It's a great game. Metroidvanias are more enjoyable than classic, and it shows!

I beat SotN like seven times, it just gets easier and easier lol. Strangely satisfying all the same.

Most definitely.  It might be easy as fuck, but it's definitely one of the top Castelvania's when it comes to replayability and pure fun.  *drool*

If you don't like Symphony NOW at 21%, you have failed. UTTERLY UTTERLY FAILED.

Classic action Castlevanias are far better on every point so far, from fun to music

my favorite remaining Castlevania 2

didn't say I didn't like it

im just not floored by its greatness or anything like that

sure its pretty damn sweet, but to the point of it being one of the absolute greatest games of all times like i often read... hmmmm i dunno

why is this regarded so highly? it IS great but there are a ton of far better games on PSOne, it isnt THAT great

You're not familiar with Jotaro. He's pretty much the worst poster on the Internet (yes, the whole Internet), hasn't left his house since 1996 and when it comes to games doesn't know his elbow from his arse. :spin

Pfffff you could hardly be more wrong. Here is as a token of proof a list of my ten favorite games ever.

Quote from:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
Quake III: Arena (PC)
Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Neo-Geo)
Half-Life (PC)
Xenogears (PSOne)
Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness (PC)
Puzzle Bobble 2 (Neo-Geo)
Baseball Stars 2 (Neo-Geo)

I just have no pity for overhyped sacred cows. When trying many of the games that were hyped on GAF as being masterpieces, people often stumble upon some pretty disagreeable surprises. Over there you're often not allowed to dislike some of them.

Fortunately Symphony of the Night is still a really great game. I just find it to be slightly overhyped, and inferior to Castlevanias made prior to the "Metroidvania" era that this game started.
