I've been waiting until this gets cheap and yesteday I chanced upon a cheap copy. I’m kind of blown away at how good this game is. While coming across a good Wii game is in and of itself a bit of an epiphany, Z&W actually seems to do a lot of things right:
+ great visuals. Seriously, this game looks fantastic
+ actual goddam widescreen, no fucking distinguished mentally-challenged black bars
+ uses the Wiimote in great ways rather than the usual intensely annoying or uncomfortable ways
+ doesn't use the nunchuk, which means there's no chance of stupid nunchuk flicking rubbish
+ you can skip cutscenes
+ seems to have a decent difficulty level
+ there's tons of stuff to find and it looks like it'll be pretty big, which is nice considering the next Wii game I get is probably Fatal Frame 4 and I don't even know if that's this year
And it's a point-&-click adventure - who doesn't love them? If you don't you have no soul.

It wasn't widescreen for me :'(
And no its NOT a point and click adventure!!! It's just a typical puzzle game seperated into levels. I was swindled into thinking it was a Monkey Island (a point and click adventure) game
-
I also have a limited edition Widescreen version of Zack and Wiki.
Anyways, yeah, its great. And yeah, its more of a puzzle game with a point and click interface, but its no poorer for it. I do love it so.

Zack & Wiki was more like Goblins than Monkey Island, but it was still an awesome game. I loved it.

I only got a few chapters in, but it was cool stuff.

What's this widescreen problem people are talking of?

I think I take your meaning in that point and click adventures were one continuous story full of puzzles whereas this is broken into short goal-oriented stages.
Still, I'm not complaining. For anyone to even contemplate doing anything like a point and click adventure nowadays is pretty rare. I miss them. :(

I saw Zack and Wiki is now $20 in stores, I've been considering giving it a go.

Do it!

Yeah, for cheap I'd jump on it. I'm glad I waited until it was cheap, but if I'd known it was this good I would have bought it a lot sooner.
