Santogold is a Wesleyan graduate1, former Sony A&R2 woman who recently started an awesome indie solo career. Her self-proclaimed major influences include M.I.A.3 and The Smiths4, and she's written songs for Ashlee Simpson5.

This means she is:

1. A lesbian
2. A self-loathing black person
3. A crypto-fascist liberal anarchist
4. A weepy emofag
5. A pop-culture obsessed capitalist

SANTOGOLD IS THE SOUND OF EVILBORE

And yet the only reference to her is a post from PD decrying her contributions to Common's upcoming album. While this is ironic and topical, it's not cool.

i was just listening to her earlier today.  great album.  :bow2 :bow2  i originally got it because i liked that her song in that beer commercial sounded like M.I.A., but i was pleasantly surprised to find that she covered all sorts of genres.  GET THIS ALBUM NOW EVILBORE

She's ok. Nothing special, and like MIA she's extremely over rated. I didn't decry her contributions to Common's new album - I was more concerned about the Neptunes/willIam involvement. He tried the space rap thing and failed, so why do space party rap? smh lonny jr

My best friend got me to listen to her last month. She's cool. This thread reminded me that I haven't put her album on my ipod yet.

misinformation alert


I've been bumping Santo for a good year now

She's not lesbian cause her b/f is some punk rocker weed head
(I know her roommate)

She's from Brooklyn and still lives in bed stuy
If her album bombed, she was going to reform the old group but it's doing well (I got my copy last week from amazon)

She's doing more and more colabos with N.E.R.D. who may bring her on tour when her promo tour overseas is done. They shot a commercial for Bud Light I think a few weeks ago.
