i will admit that i am a pc gaming virgin. I have played most of the top adventure games and rpgs, but that's really it. I've never really sat down and played Sim City. When I was younger, our pc sucked. It couldn't even run Mad Dog McCree

I never played it either.  I was pretty young when it came out though.  I'm sure it's still a good game but I just never got a chance to play it since I was like 9 when it came out.  However, a friend of mine who played it around release loved it and explained how awesome everything in it was.  every single day at recess, he would try to force me and a couple other friends to pretend like we're playing in the diablo gameworld (to the point of following ever fucking story event) and he'd be like the dungeon master or something since the rest of us never actually played the game.  thatt wasn't fun.

I'm think that was actually a repressed memory because I'm remembering now that I did hate Diablo when I was a little kid.  I need to go play this game and confront my demons.  after I finish getting superman returns achievements.  being another non-gamer and all.

I've seen people play Diablo 1 and 2 but never played either myself. Don't know why I never got around to it either, I'd probably like the games. Sim City though, that was one of the first PC games I've ever played, at a summer computer camp where we played on black and white Macs. That, Wolf 3D, and Comanche (remember that one?)... I don't normally like the sandbox god game genre, but there's something about the Sim City games.

Big series I've never played:
-Baldur's Gate series (this needs to be rectified, I'd really like to try 2)
-Ratchet and Clank series (I might get the PS3 one though)
-Any Tom Clancy game (no interest whatsoever)
-Diablo
-Command & Conquer
-Any MMO game... (no interest)

I don't even like Diablo. That's right i said it.

It's the "Click Click Click Click Click Click Click Click Click Click Click Click" game.

I never got into Planescape Tourment. And i was too young to appreciate Deus Ex properly, and i thought the 1st half life sucked back then.

So what. I loved the most recent Never Winter nights 2 and the expansion, i liked half life 2 etc etc.

I think it has more to do with the times/age, than anything.

Actually I have very fond memories of PC gaming. Back in the day I was in sim heaven with the BullFrog, Maxis, Sid Meier and others. I could get lost in those games for days it seemed. But I completely fell out of gaming right around the time D2 really hit its stride. Although I wish I had a PC powerful enough to run the Age of games and the new Civ games.

I'm the farthest thing from a PC gamer, never had one growing up, and I absolutely suck at PC gaming now as a result. But I still managed to play and love Diablo 2.

I may have to re-install it on my laptop! :o

I never had a PC growing up, so I am not well versed in PC games. However, I did get a decent rig back in 2004 and I was able to play HL2 and try out some RTS games (which I fell in love with). I have both the Starcraft and Warcraft III battlechests, as well as Age of Mythology, Dawn of War, and CoH (which I can't run because of outdated rig). I played the demo of Diablo and it was pretty cool, and I'll be picking up the battlechest before too long.

My FPS experience is limited to about fifteen minutes of Doom, five of Doom 2 and half an hour of Descent.  I've never played a Warcraft or C&C either.  Basically, Civilization, Sim City, Bard's Tale, Ultima and Fallout are the only PC games I've ever spent any time with.

That is pretty sad, but in the context of "Next Gen" is an 8-year-old point-and-click PC RPG really relevant anymore?

I'm beginning to think that the real reason a sequel hasn't been announced is because the game mechanics wouldn't hold up in today's marketplace and that much of the anticipation for said sequel is fueled by nothing but nostalgia.

I've never played Diablo 2, but me and my gf just broke up and my brother (I'm pretty sure) left his D2 discs at my parents' house, so I'm going to pick that shit up and start it tonight!

I played Diablo 2 for the first time a few months ago. It was pretty awesome, except for the fact I didn't study because all I wanted to do was play some more D2.

Don't assume that a new Diablo game wouldn't be made without some huge updates to game mechanics. A better random map generator (that generates better-paced maps that look less random), introduction of a proper game-managed barter and trade system, a revamped skill system, and a introduction of MMO-styled "risk versus reward" mechanics (players who take on harder challenges get better rewards faster) would be some of the low-hanging fruit in a new Diablo game.

There's even more ambitious things that could be done, too-Diablo and MMOs haven't really exactly diverged too much, and there is a lot of design elements that could be pilfered from MMOs to make a new Diablo game fresh without turning Diablo into an MMO (IMO it needs to straddle the fence like Guild Wars or Hellgate does).

Bought the battle chest for cheap this weekend. Never got around to playing the expansion. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by how well this game holds up. :backpedal

I think I had played Diablo without the expansion before or something because

1) It feels easier to level up (I'm already at level 11 right when I get to the Darkwoods)

and

2) Rare drops feel more frequent

Maybe I just don't remember correctly. But anways, :bow to Diablo II

I tried to add you also, but as of yesterday, you didn't accept.  I can't imagine you play your PS3 any less than you do your PC.  294 days of not being on Steam.
