:piss No country :piss2
Sorry guys, Im re-watching it and I must say this film is a masterpiece. The scene where they strike oil and the son gets hurt is :bow omfg amazing. And the best part about the movie is that there is no shitty pointless side story with Tommy Lee Jones.
-
I haven't watched it yet, but as long as it has an ending, then of course it'd be better.
Also, Boogie Nights will forever be PTA's best movie.

Oh man, just watch it!

you know the author of that was a socialist, right? smh.
Yeah and he was a pretty big homo. A failed socialist homo. But Oil! has very little in common with this movie.

sounds like you didn't "get" the film!
I agree TWBB is absolutely fucking amazing, but No Country is no slouch. I thought it was really good on first viewing but I was a bit confused by the ending. On my second (and third) viewings things meshed together better, and my appreciation for the movie rose even more.
TWBB was a jaw dropper for me, in part due to scenes like the one you mention. Such a great look at the slow deterioration of a man's calculated public persona to the point where he's fully unmasked and doesn't give a shit. And Eli's path wasn't much different - just another path of greed and manipulation, one which resonated with me more actually. I've met so many people like that, who use the cross more as a transparent mask than an honest belief set

Can you explain tommy lee jones' role for me?

Makes sense, but There will be blood is still better.
-
I definitely was more a fan of TWBB, but now FoC is on my side...
-
Both were massively overrated.
Zodiac was the best film of 2007 :bow

:rofl
-
How can yo say TWBB is overrated and then talk about david fincher with a serious face.
-
Is it wrong that I kind of Admire Plainview. Pre bowling alley scene that is.
-
huh? i disagree about it being MOTY but dude: Zodiac is amazing. It's way more entertaining than both TWBB and No Country
-
Gotta agree with Willco - both were overrated.
For me, Catch and Release was my favorite movie of 2007 followed by Juno. I like the chick flicks.
Didn't see Zodiac though. I'll have to see if its on XBLM.
-
Juno?
OH god.
-
wtf?
No Country is way better.
-
The best movie of 2007 was Hot Fuzz

Well the movie is keen to announce itself in such regard. I preferred Punch Drunk Love yeah.
I'm a bit relaxed with movie viewing.... Two other films I only managed to catch that year were I'm Not There and Ratatouille both I was honestly blown away by. Thrilling work.
And there were two others uh, eastern promises and knocked up... both good fun.
2007 was a pretty rich year, I think a bit of a revelatory for some people here because they won't shut up about it, always eager to bring it up again 6 months in 2008 :lol
hopefully I'll soon set my sights on Diving Bell and the Butterfly( thank you mr Spielberg for introducing me to mr Amalric :bow ), Stating out in the Evening, Rescue Dawn, 4 months 3 days 2 weeks, lust caution, zodiac, golden door whatever.

I hated Zodiac.
So much.

Actually, yeah, I forgot about Hot Fuzz.
Hot Fuzz > No Country for Old Men > The Mist > There Will Be Blood
