There was nice discussion in that thread, Borys is lock-happy

Halo 1 IS fun. Halo 2 needed another year, and Halo 3 wasnt bad.
But dont tell that to the people out there that think the Halo series is at the bottom of some imaginary pile of console FPSes that rock.

I never even finished Halo 2's SP.
Halo 3's SP takes a shit on Halo's though. Outside of those forced cutscenes and I guess that one anal level, it's all awesome.

I replayed this recently (PC version :(), and it really is quite good. Fun combat, great atmosphere, and the story was given just the right amount of importance to function as an engaging thread to tie the battle sequences together. And then they had to go ruin all of that by making a pretty lame story the focal point of Halo 2.

3 > 1 > 2
Although I would argue Halo 2's levels are on average better than Halo 1's levels.

except it made for some badass commercials for 2.
"There are those who said this day would never come. What are they to say now?"

Yeah, it totally kicked butt. I played the PC version way late, but enjoyed it a lot. So many people call it generic and say it wouldn't have done well on PC, and it might not have if it had targeted PC as main platform, but they made smart concessions to being a console game, and I thought the two-gun limit was a great way of pushing the player to try new weapons and not stockpile. I also liked the way the shield focused the player on strike/retreat rather than die/reload.

Halo 1 is pure ownage. I remember playing it for 10 hours straight with my friend to beat it. So great.

Halo 1 is still a great game, but I feel Halo 3 is the pinnacle of the series. If only because the arsenal of Master Chief is at it's best, and the graphics are in HD.

Well, sort of.

I agree.
And Halo 3 has the worst part from all three games in it. 4 player co-op means jack shit when you have some robot guy and three aliens lost in a giant asshole.

Pretty sure I've seen that Japanese porn video.

I definitely enjoyed Halo a lot. The single player allowed for some interesting interaction with NPC and I loved trying to wedge the Warthog into narrow tunnels. For some reason I enjoyed the multiplayer a great deal more in Halo 1 than Halo 2.

Halo 1 is my favorite but only because of the whole LAN thing. We'd play from 5 PM to 5 AM. All kinds of drama ensued in the meantime. Relationships were broken up, fights almost happened, owning teenage girls through AIM (the whole "Hey, download this MP3" and we would get access to look into her computer), and my friends' MILF mother who would wear tight wife beaters as she went up to give us pop and food. Good times, good times.
Halo 2 just wasn't that exciting. The multiplayer levels I thought were inferior and the notorious ending.
My friend got Halo 3 and despite watching him play, it just seemed like Halo 2 + HD graphics. I still felt that the first one had the best map designs. Bungie made Halo 2 and 3 maps far more complicated and somehow, that was supposed to mean that they evolved.

how does that work exactly?

It was a program that, if a person were to open it, you could view their computer and control their mouse.
I don't know what it was called but at any moment we had about 20 people and not all were playing Halo. Some did shit like this. We did this to a pretty creepy guy and discovered a folder full of porn, neatly categorized by the actresses names. It was an efficient way of managing porn but this guy had about 70 GB of it, which was pretty big back in the day.

Yea I know that software.
What's so great about Halo 1 multi maps?
