Jesus H Jumped-Up Fucking Christ, you can't do ANYTHING on this fucking OS without going through 20 needless steps
I've been trying to update Openoffice for 30 fucking minutes, but no, some Windows Explorer process won't let me, and if it's not that it's the fucking Data Execution Prevention shutting it down
I turned off UAC, but of course that only leads to warnings every five fucking seconds and doesn't help the other ten hoops I have to jump through just to install a program
I'd love to stomp Steve Ballmers face until there's nothing but a foot-shaped hole
-
How do I turn all this fucking bullshit off? And I mean all of it - fuck windows defender, fuck UAC, fuck the data execution prevention, I want it all turned off, it's nothing but a goddamned headache
-
I think I've finally managed to get everything disabled that warns you about crap and prevents programs from running. It's kinda like getting all the pins out of a new shirt.
-
i'm so goddamned pissed-off right now
-
how DO you people have problems with LUA/UAC and the data execution prevention? I've been running like 6 different Vista installs on 6 different machines since day one and have run into ZERO of these issues. what the fuck are you trying to install (besides OpenOffice)?
-
i'm just trying to update openoffice, that's all
also, somehow it keeps questioning my administrative rights at random intervals
foot-shaped hole, ballmer, foot-shaped hole
-
fuck it, i'm just gonna bootleg a copy of Office off newsleecher
won't let me update OpenOffice, MS? Fine, I'm stealing your office software.
Eat a dick, Gates.
-
blame openoffice for its lack of vista compat; there's a well-documented RIGHT way to update on vista, shame they won't use it
SUN and OPEN SOURCE, sir
-
suddenly, it decided to work, guess i wore it out
-
lol, wtf dude
-
i did nothing except restart about 50 times
-
yeah, openoffice is kinda crap, use \TeX instead
-
Wow, I have enough trouble cutting the useless shit out of XP.
Glad I don't have Vista. 8)
-
i suggest winvi

You are about to make a post to Evilbore. Are you sure you want to do this? There may be viruses and shit. Please confirm that you want to make a post on Evilbore before continuing.

I think I'm the only person I know who is pretty happy with vista. :o
-
perhaps i was too harsh on vista
it does have a lot of features i enjoy
but the "security features" are just ridiculous overkill
in all the years i have been using computers i've only gotten one virus, and that was just an annoying popup that was easily removed
will edit thread title

In their defense, you have to realize how absolutely distinguished mentally-challenged people are when it comes to computers, and where they go/what they click. Pretty sure they are just covering their ass.

I have vista on 3 machines, never have problems.
-
I have some problems with my notebook, but I think that is Dell's bloatware more than anything. Which reminds me, I need to nab copies of Vista for meself and a certain personal boyfriend of mine that lives in Ohio and is not Matlock this week.
-
What weeks is he Matlock?
wokka wokka!

Actually, he basically is Matlock most of the time.

vista wasn't happy with you using openoffice.

I loves my Vistas. I turned off the annoying security stuff immediately. It works like a charm.
Glass with maximum transparancy is so cool.
-
I wish I could do my Ad-Aware scans without the program crashing like I used to on XP, or run Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) and have it work.
Boo-urns on Vista.

Vista has been my favorite OS so far. It's on my laptop and my desktop, with zero problems so far. The only caveat is that I'm not a huge PC gamer, so I'm bypassing any difficulties in that area.
-
don't use IE. Use FireFox or Opera.

i think you are lost my friend.

Ie7 is awesome, not liking IE7 is kinda dumbface
-
As a IE7 cigarillo, i have to admit Firefox 3 is pretty good and damn fast.
but i have faith IE8 will destroy it :rock
-
lol IE fans
-
it's funny, it was working great up until a couple of weeks ago, then all of a sudden vista decided my judgement was not to be trusted and refused to let me alter it in any way
"I'm afraid i can't let you do that, Kevin," Vista stated in an eerily calm voice. Gas began to fill the room.
