Title: EGM - FFIII DS Review makes no mention of loading issues.

It's still there in the videos I've seen, but it doesn't look crippling to the game

Well it cant be that big a deal if no one mentions in a review that certainly isnt afraid to be critical.

It probably wasn't a big deal to them.  My copy shipped out last night.  I'll play a half hour or so when I get it (before switching back to FFV) to see if it is annoying to me or not.

well considering how critical EGM is of games, if its anything at all they would have at least mentioned it in the Positive/Negative sidebar.

Lemme know how this turns out. The load times and infrequent saves are what's keeping me on the fence.

There were load times in Wild World too. Screen goes black for a few seconds. Big deal.

Infrequent save points is pretty fucking stupid in a portable game though.

I mean, you can still sleep mode the shit, but the save points are REALLY there so you dont lose hours of gameplay to a shitty situation.

I always forget about sleep mode.

If I die and it's going to take me hours to get back to where I was, I usually just quit.

Trust me, if it was a problem EGM would have gone on about it for two paragraphs straight.

I think I'm going to hold off on FFIII and get FFV instead. I really liked the battle system in FFIV, and I want to check V out for myself. Many people say it's meh story wise at first, but picks up. Others say it sucks in general :(

there is a quicksave function but it works like Fire Emblem once you save you have to turn off the system.

I been playing for 2 hours, game is a lot easier than the original version but still pretty challenging. graphics are nice but when you zoom in oh boy. the loadings are there but they are not bad at all nothing gamebreaking. the music is AWESOME seriously I cant get over how awesome the music is. so far the game is pretty good I cleared the Djinn cave without problems the encounter rate is not high but I got use to SMT insane encounter rates so I dont know.

The pre-battle load time is about 1 second which isn't bad at all.  The game does do a camera shift at the beginning and the end of each round, then there's an after battle victory screen which takes a couple seconds, then a one to two second load to get back to the map.  It's noticeable but wasn't really annoying for the 15 minutes I played.  Graphics are decent enough, music seems good.  Unless I don't like the rest of the game I can live with it easily enough.

loading is fine. Man, I'm flashing back to PSOne FFs big-time. Seems good so far!
