No, I didn't finish the novel, though not for want of trying. Nothing to be done about that but push on when I return.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones in Spain and Portugal.

In my absence, all my email is being handled by my assistant, Ty.

Such a lazy, off hand admission like he doesn't even care. "Oh btw didn't finish the book, you know the book I've been writing for 4 fucking years, the one I focused on from Jan. to June and couldn't finish"

It's a fun read. I've been re-reading ASOIAF and it only makes the wait even worse. Very few fantasy books keep me on the edge of my seat during the second/third readings. sigh

It's more consistently awesome. ASOIAF has higher highs but some really boring lows imo. Also, Erickson is a MACHINE when it comes to writing. Book 8 is done and will be out this year, Book 9 in 2009 and Book 10 in 2010.

Basically, all you're doing is prolonging the inevitable. Once you get about 2/3 of the way through the first book you'll be saying OMFG BRIDGEBURNERS SO AWESOME OMFG QUICK BEN BEST CHARACTER OF THE EVER. And the first book isn't even anywhere NEAR as good as the second and third ones.

she was so annoying in the first book, and almost directly responsible for you know who's beheading. smh

but in next book i thought her character got way more interesting. littlefinger is basically grooming her to be his contender in the "war of the three queens" (or is it four...). i have a feeling she's going to wind up becoming the next cersei lannister. can't wait to see what happens if she attempts to rally the north and

I'll start looking into the Malazan books as soon as the Erikson cheerleaders leave ASOIAF threads alone. I read the Prince of Nothing series when Prole mentioned it but you fuckers are annoying.
