This is great day for all Diablo fans around the world.
The little gameplay movie they showed there rocked. So many awesome moments, so many OMG moments. I can't fucking wait.
Muzyka? You know Ray Muzyka from Bioware?
TELL ME ABOUT DRAGON AGE SIR
-
"Mój Komputer" always cracks me up. Sounds like some computer learning show for toddlers.
-
This may sound like a stupid question, but:
If I buy the Diablo Battlechest edition, can I install the games on my desktop AND my laptop, or will the key lock it into one computer?
-
Gameplay trailer is pretty incredible, well done Blizzard. I wish the graphics were a little more fancier-this looks a lot like TQ with a Diablo distinctive art style, but that's about the only gripe I have.
Love the new health orb thing.

world of diablo :-X

I hate to interrupt the Metal Gear like cicle jerk, but why is Blizzard so conservative? Both SC2 and Diablo 3 seem just like their predecessors, only with new assets.
I mean from a biz-dev perspective I understand that innovation is a bad word, but I'd figure with all Blizzard's money, they be emboldened to take risks. I guess all their current employees grew up playing Starcraft and Diablo, so maybe it's the rank and file's dream to get to remake these games ???

someone hold me i'm watching the gameplay video right now
omg the skeletons sliding down the hill after being devoured by locusts

First of all, we only know a handful of details so far so that's not a fair assumption to make at this point.
Second, as a hardcore D2 fanboy that played the game for hundreds (probably thousands) of hours, an updated D2 is exactly what I wanted. I bet a lot of other hardcores would agree with me.
Third, from what we do know, there are some significant changes. The environment interactions and physics is a huge change. D2's environments were like bitmaps.
They're also changing the loot system, the health system, vastly improving B.net, making quests much more dynamic, etc.
Lots of good details in this chat transcript from dii.net:

I had no idea EB had so many Diablo fanboys. Let's all play together on the same realm.
-
thanks, joe
You'll also be able to register the key on the blizzard store so you'll be able to download it wherever you are as well.
-
Id like to say that this is nowhere near the Starcraft 1.5 argument. Diablo III looks to be absolutely PACKED with improvements. Whining that its just diablo II Plus is like arguing the same for a racing car game that still involves racing cars.
Diablo cant suddenly bust out of the genre it created. Wtf GAF
-
I'm downloading the 570MB AVI version (found in the links below the Flash version) thank you very much.
-
Under "video details." There's the FLVs, then the AVI.
-
What? Where? Drop a link Crushed. I am dling the FLV file and it is also ~600 MB. I'll find a program to play FLV files later. Of course I'd love to download an AVI version of it :'(

Here you go, my polish fellow.
-
Is GAF really bitching about it? No shame. I bet 90% of those kids havent even played D2 back in the day. Let alone D1. 12 year olds. All of them.
they are saying it looks like titan quest.

thanks, joe

man, that sounds awesome, thanks
-
Are they going to include races?
-
I went to sleep 7 hours ago while downloading the video, and after just watching it, I am even more blown away. The physics and environmental effects are sooooo nice.
-
From the gameplay trailer, it looks like they copied a lot from TQ in the overworld design. I mean to the point that like, the satyr camps and random packs of skeletal warriors + a few mages looked almost identical...
omg packs of skeletal warriors and mages
ripoff of tq total :rofl
-
Just got done watching the HD trailer. Holy shit at the Witch Doctor class! I think I may start as him on my first playthrough. Wall of zombies and swarm of locusts :-X
-
So glad whirlwind returns for the Baba. I must have spent literally hundreds of hours just whirling in D2.
-
I need to get TQ and get my click on
-
the witch doctor poisoning his pets was :o i love skills like this
And then explode them when they're about to die. :bow

Wait... is Enl's avatar animated???
it is, creepy eh?

We had bosses in Diablo II but, again, they weren't really involved. We really want to try to implement bosses that are much more epic, there's much more gameplay to actually defeating them. We're taking cues from games like Zelda, God of War, games like that, bring that to the action-RPG genre. We want to have side quests and scenarios that are much more involved…like defend the town from attack or something like that."
Diablo III will be similar to Diablo II in terms of its overall structure. There'll still be acts. There'll be above and underground sections of maps, though the outdoor environment won't be as randomized, as Blizzard wants to build more distinct personality into some of the game's sections. There still will be plenty of randomization though when it comes to items, monsters, and dungeons.
:omg
-
zelda? 3 hit and down bosses :lol
-
QTEs confirmed
-
"please round up my cows, oh necromancer, and i will give you a piece of heart"
-
Ive dumped at least 110+ hours into Titan Quest, they aren't even that similar. They just happen to both be in the genre that DIABLO pretty much made famous.
-
Those graphics make Sacred 2 look like a Wii game.
Tons of little touches that are very impressive.
-
I love how it looks as good as the concept art no doubt. I'm seriously floored.
-
Its a step above Titan Quest, sure, but I think they just have better art all around.
-
You'd almost be worried that with how good it looks it wont on old machines, blizzards trademark. But I bet they will pull it off again, plus by the time this comes out.....
by the time this comes out, my GTS512 will be an old man.
Playing some TQ tonight in honor. I'm at the gorgon cave. just summoned a Liche King pet.
TQ is hot, but Blizzard wouldn't make Diablo 3 if they didn't think they could shit all over TQ.
-
Nerds
-
coddamn the game looks fantastic already. pretty much the slickest dungeon hack i've ever seen.

I just played the entire D2 campaign with my brother like 2 months ago, from Old Tristram to the top of that stupid mountain. He was a Paladin, I was a rabid druiish werewolf.
Diablo 2 is, in my humble opinion, the greatest coop game ever created. The shit is pure addiction. We couldn't stop. Hammered the whole campaign out in like 2 days.
Diablo 3 is going to fuck faces. I hope it causes Denis Dyack to kill himself.
-
They learned a lot about group coop from World of Warcraft, that much is evident in the gameplay video for Diablo III
-
Doing it solo right now in celebration. Just got to Lut Gholein with my L16 Barb.
-
I'm guessing that multiplayer in this game will be pretty awesome. I wonder how many players it will support. I'm kinda hoping that they try a different party dynamic than the tank-healer-blah mmo thing, but I'm not getting my hopes up since that is like the standard party setup in games these days. I also hope that the game is still fully solo-able.
-
The more I watch the videos, the more stoked I'm getting. Why does this game have to be like 2 years away probably? :-\
-
it's pretty clear the game is solo-able, thank god. the witch doctor and barb classes seemed to be able to handle themselves just fine.
-
Im hoping they are satisfied with WoW for PVP, Diablo 2 PVP made the single player kind of unfun compared to Titan Quest, which has no fear of having completely overpowered builds cause *gasp* theyre fun!
-

Well, at least 4 person co-op is pretty much confirmed. Then again, they might pull a Silicon Knights and lower it to 2 player and blame it on some dumb reason. Oh, who am I kidding, this is Blizzard!

The multiplayer didn't look MMO-ish at all. It looked like a bunch of people playing, well, Diablo, with the game tweaked so that the multiplayer was pretty natural. The health orbs give health to everyone around you when picked up (so if someone needs a heal, just grab the orb, everyone gets healed) and the loot distribution is done smoothly-if you can see it, you can loot it.
I hope they have some MMO-ish features like an Auction House, though, at least for closed bnet ladder stuff. The idea of going into games specifically for trading items needs to go the way of the dodo, even for this kind of game.
-
I hope they focus on coop and not PVP. PVP in Diablo II never really worked out to be balanced iirc

I'm not putting much stock in the video except as a sort of proof of concept. I mean, I am sure the game will look and play like that, but I doubt there's been much put into the underpinnings and balance that's going to be there when it actually launches. But yeah, I guess you are right--they can't really put any sort of "strict" party dynamics in play when it needs to be, well, much less balanced than something like WoW.
I do kinda hope they put a lot of work into creating a working economy this time around. That's one place where I would like to see things more WoW-like. I am guessing that some sort of worldwide auction house system will be in place.

BOBOBo ITS ALL COMPLICATED NA RGHHGHGHGHG
-
IT'S 5 PERSON COOP!, not 4.
FIVE PERSON COOP
Eat shit and die Dyack.
5? oh my. I only noticed the 4 in the video plus the NPC helpers.
But I thought having more people on screen would make things more chaotic! How can it be pulled off!

Just to clarify, Blizz hasn't chosen a number yet. They can technically go pretty high, they just said that 4-5 person parties provide the best balance of mayhem and fun.

So glad whirlwind returns for the Baba. I must have spent literally hundreds of hours just whirling in D2.
Will you WW Koreans with your Baba?
I have so many fond memories of those days with the original D2. Whirlwind + lance were unstoppable in pre-expansion D2.
The last time I had the game installed was about a year ago, which was when I created my personal best Baba of all time, a BvC on East ladder. His gear:
Helm: Perfect CoA (30 res, 31 DR, double Ber'd)
Armor: Enigma / low str Fort in stash
Gloves: Dracs
Boots: Gores / godly Tri-res boots (35%+ fire/cold/lit res, 30% run/walk)
Weap #1: Perf 400/40 Grief zerk made in a 15% superior, 15% dura base
Weap #2: Beast zerk
Belt: godly rare res / str / life / fhr belt (24% fhr, like two res of 35-40, +45 life, +25 str)
Ammy: Highlord's / angelic's
Rings: ravens / Angelic's
Switch weaps: dual Doom zerks
Stash: 2x 20 sorb wisps, dwarf stars, dungos, etc
Charms:
36 blocks of life / ar / +max dmg charms (insanely godly)
near perf anni, like 20/18/10
perf torch
I sold dude for over $100 when I quit, no joke.
-
I just realized that this ISN'T "World of Diablo", which seems rather significant. Everyone was scared that Blizzard would do nothing but WoW-clones from now on, but SCII and DIII seem to indicate that non-MMO games are going to live on. :elephant
-
Did anyone notice how the Siegebeast boss killed 2 player characters? First he picked up a Witch Doctor and slammed him into ground (insta-kill) then, later on, he picked up a Barb and ate his head off.
Damn.
That was fucking amazing to me. They better not nerf or balance it for the crybabies.
TBH I've never played much Diablo but that video got me more excited than anything of late. I want to put D2 on my EEE PC but trying to play with a touchpad didn't work well with Fallout so I can imagine D2 would be even worse.
