I just got confirmation that my press accreditation for the Magic Circle Festival 2008 went through.

It looks like I will be interviewing MANOWAR (http://www.manowar.com/) and HolyHell (http://www.holyhell.com/) in the coming week sometime.

backstory:

I host a college heavy metal radio show, and last fall I emailed the Magic Circle Music promotions department to see if they'd be interested in getting a phone interview set up for our show with Manowar. I didn't hear anything back for months, so I just figured they'd loled at my email and tossed it in the trash bin.

Lo and behold, I got a response in February to my email. Not only was it a response, but in it the lady said they were interested in setting up an interview, and they asked if I'd also be interested in interviewing HolyHell to spread the word about them. I of course accepted the offer. They told me they'd get back in touch with my in due time, and they added me to their press newsletter.

A little while passed, and again I didn't hear back, so I thought they took a second look at our request and loled again. But sure enough, after awhile, I got an email about applying for press accreditation for the 2008 Magic Circle Festival. I had already bought tickets, so I figured what the hell and applied for 2 press passes. I was already going to the show, so the worst case scenario would have me still going to the show and having a kickass time.

I've been in touch with their press contact a few times, and I was apprehensive about it, because I still thought they'd deny the request. Last week I got an email about setting up a pre-show phone interview with Manowar, but I couldn't swing my work schedule to make it work. I was told they'd reschedule something for me for after the festival, which again I felt may have been a way of blowing me off.

Sure enough, I just got an email in my inbox telling my my press accreditation went through for the festival. I nearly shat my pants.

congrats!!!

i had no idea who they were until this thread though :(  but i listen to the spill canvas :(  i'm not hard (ok, sometimes i am, but that's usually just before the deed and then i go soft again)

Yeah, normally I have to interview bands I hate.  Like Hanson.

Oddly enough, I don't really know and Death songs. Perhaps you should post a few in the radio topic, as I always check there before our radio show.
