I watch just as much TV as ever.  I even watch current TV via the magic of torrents.  even with that in mind, I still feel "cut off" from the real world.  What makes me feel connected and plugged into society is, sadly, advertisements.  Little jingles and memes.  It's kind of creepy and terrible.  One of the worst aspects of our society has such a defining effect on our cultural identities.  I will be so happy when the terrible brand of soulless capitalism forged by America dies.  It is absolutely disgusting.  In the Victorian Era, the equivalent of mass culture was Dickens.  Today it's Velveta commercials.  The destruction of America will be the first good event in history in several centuries.

I lived with my grandparents while in college and didn't have cable. I'd go to Ecro's and watch Law & Order, Nick at Nite, and Animal Planet. Now I'm back with my parents and can do that anytime! :D

I watch tons of TV too, but im not able to muster enthusiasm for something I can watch on command. I mean tekwar was great, but all the excitement is lost when I polish it off in a few days.
