I've got to work 10-7 as well, but I get 8 paid holiday hours on top of that.

I worked 10:30 to 7. It was totally boring. I got paid time and a half, though.

And I'm calling off on Saturday. Woo!

i knew the US economy was doing bad when I got a survey about my recent experience with citifinancial auto.  i asked the lady why the hell she was working on the 4th of july and told her to go home or call me on a non-holiday.

seriously, every US business (besides mexican owned ones who don't care about the 4th) should be closed!

Before I had kids and got married, us guys would work every holiday on purpose. 1. to get shit done. 2. had nothing better to do. and 3. because of the pay. :P

The best part about the holiday is the holiday pay.  When I worked Christmas Day shifts, I'd get double pay and the workloads were pretty light.

Same.  I haven't had a holiday off since I was 15.  Except for the July 4th I just had off.
