I'm going through the first few seasons of The Shield again and as I usually do after watching a movie or TV episode, I'll quickly open a tab for IMDB and put a star rating on it. After watching the episode "Blowback" from the first season, I search for it on IMDB and notice it has a 6.0 rating. Kind of low for a good show and a good episode, so I look at the votes..
Votes Percentage Rating
55 28.1% 10
15 7.7% 9
11 5.6% 8
3 1.5% 7
4 2.0% 6
2 1.0% 5
3 1.5% 4
6 3.1% 3
45 23.0% 2
52 26.5% 1
Out of almost 200 votes, half of them are sabotage votes. You've got to be kidding me. 100 people actually had the thought, "You know what? Come to think of it, that fifth episode from The Shield's first season, it really burns my ass. I'm gonna give it a 1 on IMDB. You feelin' me Michael Chiklis?? A ONE! HAVE AT YOU!!"
The I start looking at the episodes from the rest of the series and sure enough, they're all sabotaged. Apparently hundreds of people, or fewer people with a lot of IMDB accounts, called up every episode of The Shield on IMDB and voted a 1 or 2 on all of them.
I am perplexed. I can see if you happen to come across a show or movie you don't really like and give it a 1 just to be a dick. That takes like 5 seconds of effort. But to spend a half an hour visiting the IMDB pages for each episode of a TV show to give it a sour vote? What is the mindset behind people who try to sabotage something so irrelevant as a movie's vote rating on IMDB? Sexual frustration? That's a given. I'll throw some feelings of inadequacy on there, too.
No wonder 3/4ths of the world wants us dead. What a bunch of frivolous peckers.

you shouldn't care about this stuff
-
It's not that I care about the rating, it's the mindset.
-
i just sabotaged that even more. what are you gonna do about it? sit on my face?
-
That wouldn't be punishing you.
-
punish me, or i'll rate you a 1
-
If people want to kill me because I gave a negative rating to a TV show, maybe it's not my culture I should be worried about.

The people who vote 1 or 2 on everything are balanced out by the people who vote 9 or 10 on everything.
