-
* I hope that list is fake
* I hope the achievements are better (too much emphasis on World Tour in RB1)
* I hope I can do World Tour online (and get achievements for it)
* I hope the new instruments arent worth upgrading, cause I would hate to waste money again
* I hope that list is fake

-
Nevermind, I failed to see the Alanis Morisette. This has to be a fake.
-
Didn't Guitar Queero already have Carry On My Wayward Son?
Yup. GH2
-
WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO LED ZEPPELIN?
-
WHY THE FUCK IS THERE NO LED ZEPPELIN?
Because they don't want people messing with their masters (http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/07/led-zeppelin-un.html)
-
I'll still probably get the entire bundle again ( :( ).
-
Isn't it extremely early for a complete or near complete set list to leak? They haven't even announced all their new features and shit yet. This list is likely fictitious.
-
Nah, Harmonix always finishes their games in august, and they just sit there. GH2 was done on August 12, 2006. Rock Band 1 was done August 27th.
I always tell the story of when I was a intern at HMX for Amplitude (one of my fav games of all time. Make a new one, sell out fegs) and we were trying to get Linkin Park for the game (this was when they were huge and everyone wanted them), but the band refused because they didn't want people messing with their masters. Guess they changed their mind.
As for songs i'll play:
2) bad to the bone (george thorogood)
5) pinball wizard (the who)
6) dammit (blink 182)
9) ace of spades (motorhead)
10) chop suey (system of a down)
11) testify (rage against the machine)
12) spirit in the sky (norman greenbaum)
13) ramblin' man (allman brothers)
17) everlong (foo fighters)
18) one step closer (linkin park)
19) lump (presidents of the USA)
20) come out and play (offspring)
21) drain you (nirvana)
23) peace sells (megadeath)
26) round and round (ratt)
29) today (smashing pumpkins)
32) holiday in cambodia (dead kennedys)
33) give it away (red hot chili peppers)
34) white wedding (billy idol)
36) cool for cats (squeeze)
37) psycho killer (talking heads)
40) de-luxe (lush)
43) master exploder (tenacious d)
45) PDA (interpol)
46) my own worst enemy (lit)
47) float on (modest mouse)
49) spoonman (soundgarden)
56) you oughta know (alanis morrissette)
60) alabama getaway (grateful dead)
A pretty shit list all in all, although we're missing the last two/three tiers which usually include the best songs. Still holding out for Beatles and more REM.
-
The Lack of Metallica sucks ass.
-

-
Why the fuck would they pick Tanlged Up In Blue, of all Bob Dylan songs for Rock Band? Full-band Dylan songs are the best from the mid 60s--why not Tombstone Blues? Like a Rolling Stone? Highway 61?
-
42 Mastodon - Colony of Birchmen
SHITSHITSHITHSHITSHTISTHSITHSHT
And Battery too? Please be real

NO FUCKING WAY. NO WAY
Did I not just like 3 weeks ago MAKE A POST ABOUT HOW "FEEL THE PAIN" was my NUMBER ONE MOSTW ANTED TRACK?

-
TEENAGE RIOT?!
Oh fuck oh god immm cummmming
-
THE REPLACEMENTS?
Didn't Wired do an iterview where the guy pretty much confirmed the Replacements?
Sonic Youth, Dino Jr, Replacements. zommmgmgm, sbgam, hsfbd usahdf
-
Assuming this is real.... Harmonix better be giving us another bass pedal.
-
Wow, that list is -way- better than the first one. I would love to play The Middle.
-
Wait, what's the GnR song? I've never heard of it.
-
If that second list is true...
:bow Rock Band 2 :bow2
-
PLEASE OH GOD FUCKING PLEASE LET BEASTIE BOYS, BECK + L7 BE TRUE.
PLEASE.
-
Yeah the seccond list
AFI, GNR, Metallica automatically makes it an awesome list for me personally.
-
Oh well, I don't even care about the RB2 track list, just keep pumping out that DLC, Harmonix. I will spend so much money on that crap.
-
That second list is simply too good to be true. That would basically be the best tracklist for one of these, evar.
Also, another reason the first track list might be a bit suspect is that the Dead Kennedys are on it, and if they were in the game, Jello Biafra would have already ruined the surprise and told his fans to boycott the game.
-
Second track list is amazing.
-
I would buy it if it is the second list.
-

They're in GH3, no?
-
^ I thought the same, I think you are thinking Dropkick Murphys
-
They are in GH3. Same song as the first list, too.
-
I'm stunned that RB2 is going to come out anytime soon. I thought they were basing it on a DLC-heavy model instead of yearly "updates" - any chance RB1 tracks will be compatible with RB2? Or is that just another investment in the toilet?

RB 1 DLC and instruments work with RB2. Harmonix is just adding new disc songs and game modes.

DLC will work with 2. I think this is just a kind of "booster pack" and a chance to add some more modes. I'm fine wirh the DLC model, but I'm guessing it;s not as cash money as a whole disc. I would'n't mind DLC complimented by an end-of-year booster.
-
Wow. If that new list is real I'm impressed.
-
I hope the second is legit
-
Panic Attack from Dream Theater? Holy shit I must be dreaming. Since when did the game-playing world achieve some semblance of taste?
-
Rock Band 2 is nothing like what Guitar Hero has been doing, with Rock the 80s and Aerosmith, and soon to be Metallica

They've been in games before, and Jello has publicly bitched about it. That's what he does these days--bitches.
-
:bow Rush - The Trees :bow2

Thanks

Thanks for the confirmations. Wow, that's cool that the DLC will be compatible. It sounds in some ways like an expansion pack, albeit with additional Achievements for the Gamerscore 'Ho in me.
-
If you're going to have GnR in there, at least put one of their 30+ songs that I know.
I prefer the first list, although just because I want that Kansas song in a BAND game, not just a guitar game.
-
Wow a actual human that likes Kansas?!?!
-
Can anyone actually LIKE Kansas?
If you only know one song from the band (which I grew up believing was a Boston song) does that actually count as liking them?
-
Wow a actual human that likes Kansas?!?!
Kansas, Dream Theater, Rush... At least the developers are getting something right.

The single player mode sounds a lot better in RB2. That was one thing that was lacking in the original.
-
What the fuck is Shackler's Revenge?
Methinks it might be... CHINESE DEMOCRACY DLC AFTERWARDS!!!!
I just hope GnR has some quality left in it even when it is basically only Rose.

Harmonix made Karaoke Revolution you fucking idiots at Konami. Don't you remember you were the ones who hired THEM?!
-
Dream Theater is going to ruin my guitar(s), haha
-
harmonix approached konami with the guitar hero concept, konami was busy suing east texas developers for scraps over ddr and securing bad house (is there good house?) music rights for beatmania, thus denying them the biggest payday in the company's history. now this.
False. Harmonix went up to Konami to buy the Frequency rights from Sony. Konami denied, Karaoke Revolution 3 went on to be a huge hit and Harmonix finished up their contracts with Konami by making KR Party and Country.

uh...what are you talking about
Cohen is right, and I dunno what your story is even supposed to mean
-
Frequency, Harmonix first game-game. When they developed KR1 and it got popular, they figured they'd ask Konami if they'd buy the liscence off of Sony (at this point, Sony had no intention on making another one). Konami said no and Harmonix went on to finish their contract they had with Konami.
The "guitar hero" they say they asked Konami to do was just a demo. Since Konami was interested in the added revenue of peripherals, they added the fact that they could use a peripheral. They made up a demo of the game - the much fabled Weezer Dope Nose Demo - which was the Dope Nose level of Amplitude just straightened down to the guitar track.
Konami said no, Harmonix finished up their contract and went to Red Octane with the demo. Red Octane said "we just want the guitar", and hence Guitar Hero was born.

July 10 -- Konami Corp., the Japanese creator of the ``Dance Dance Revolution'' music video game, sued Viacom Inc.'s Harmonix studio, claiming its ``Rock Band'' game violates patents.
The Konami patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a ``musical-rhythm matching game.'' Konami also makes the ``Karaoke Revolution'' music game with microphones, as well as the ``Metal Gear Solid'' espionage game.
``Rock Band,'' the game in which players emulate rock and rollers with toy instruments, drove a 16 percent increase in first-quarter revenue at New York-based Viacom's media networks business. Konami's Digital Entertainment unit said in May it plans to begin selling its own rock band game, called ``Rock Revolution,'' later this year.
Konami is demanding cash compensation, plus an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions, according to the complaint, filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The suit names Harmonix Music Systems, Viacom, and Viacom's MTV Networks Co., which owns Harmonix.
Viacom spokeswoman Kelly McAndrew said the company hasn't received the complaint, so had no immediate comment.
Konami American depositary receipts, each representing one ordinary share, fell $1.67, or 5.2 percent, to $30.15 at 4:02 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. They have risen 26 percent in the past year. Viacom's Class B shares rose 22 cents to $28.12 and have dropped 32 percent in the past year.
The case is Konami Digital Entertainment Co. v. Harmonix Music Systems Inc., 08cv286, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall).
hehe.
Oh Konami, you could have been leading the way, and instead you're years behind fighting for the scraps. Whelp, gotta fill in that MGS4 money pit somehow, amirite?
-
I wonder if the limited edition drum kit that turns into an electronic kit will be any good as a legitimate drum kit. That would be a pretty cool way for me to transition from rock band drums to real drums.
-
Wait. There's no pedal for the hi-hat. I assume that renders it pretty useless.

Holy shit look at that drum notechart... thats brutal
-
Holy shit look at that drum notechart... thats brutal
Looks pretty easy. It's like a slower Run To The Hills with a lot more easier parts in between.
-
Living on a prayer is awesome, would like to play that on a real guitar. I saw a South Park episode the other day, it was hilarious. It was all about Guitar Hero, and Stan and Kyle break a million, and the final screen says something like "Congrats! You are a cigarillo!!" :lol
-
Looks pretty cool. Too bad they picked a gay song for the trailer though.
smh.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Second list kicks ass.
-
Really great, but I'm still pissed at the Dylan song they chose. But at least that opens up some possibilities for a Dylan pack or something.

Harmonix actually wanted to toss in 100 tracks total for the disk, but couldn't get them all in one time to ship for Xbox 360 by September. So this fall, MTV is releasing an additional 20 downloadable master tracks... for free.
-
So that means Guitar Hero won the Beatles :(
-
they're not going to give away Beatles songs on the disc
expect $2.99 dlc Beatles songs
-
wow, 20 FREE songs? thats badass

I would gladly pay $10.00 a song.
Dear Prudence
Happiness is a Warm Gun
IN MY MOUTH

I dunno about $10, but I would pay a premium for Beatles songs (although I'd be pretty selective)
-
Wow. Harmonix hits it out of the park. :hyper :hyper :hyper
-
Woah!! Not only is the badass second list confirmed, but 20 free master track DLC songs are coming???
:bow Harmonix :bow2
-
Also for the record, the Beatles were on the disc of Karaoke Revolution Volume 3
-
where are people getting GHIV Beatles
-
they put on a bad like lush and then place a middling track like de-luxe? awful.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/rock-band-disc-content-can-be-ported-to-rb2-for-5/
Rock Band content from the discs will be transferable to the sequel, but for a price. The release states that "owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay-the first time ever in videogame history!" You will need to pay an unlocking fee to do so, which will be "under 5 dollars."
-
Meh, most of the songs I can live without. Will pass on that. I still need ot unlock achievements on RB1, mayne.
-
i'll do it for my friends who come over and still want to play rb1 songs, so i don't have to switch out games
-
THE REPLACEMENTS. ALEX CHILTON.
FUCKING WHAT THE FUCK THEYRE IN MY HEAD
-
The fact that it's "most" songs and you have to pay a fee is kinda lame, but I'll still do it. It'll be nice to have all my songs in one place. Hopefully "most" means all but one or two crappy songs that I don't care about.
-
At this point, it looks like I'm going to need to upgrade to a 120GB HDD for my 360; I've been carting my crap around on a 512MB MU and am totally out of space; if I want to get all that RB1 DLC I'll need more space than I've got.
So... anyone else hoping Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog tracks will eventually make it into DLC for Rock Band 2?
