It's all over, you missed it, sorry
From CAG:
First off, this is not one of those website BS scams that make you answer surveys or buy products and redeem for points, its a Microsoft sponsored contest I got an email for.
I just got an email for some MSN auto contest where you create a custom Dodge Challenger. Well, I did it just to waste time, but I noticed that at the end of my submission, there is a check box to receive Microsoft Points for participating. Well, Hell yeah I said to myself, I check the box and hit submit. ONce it went through I got an email saying thanks for playing and my code was there for redemption. I went to the online Microsoft points login, put in my code and viola, I got 100 points for free. Also, I tried it with another email, and after I submitted another car, I got the point code sent to that email and I added another 100 to my account. Its easy and take maybe 5 mins if you don't spend any time customizing the car. Here is what you do:
1. Go to the website: http://www.dreamcarchallenge.com/main/Default.aspx
2. Hit the Enter Challenge button on the right of the page.
3. Just hit "Next Step" on the bottom right, until you reach the end (or you can take the time and customize the car if you want...)
4. Fill in your info on that next page, IMPORTANT, here is where you select your option to receive the Free points!
5. Make sure you check the 3rd box from the top that says "Yes, I would like to receive Microsoft Points by participating in this promotion. Tell me more about Microsoft Points."
6. Submit your entry and wait for the email with your point code.
7. You can go to http://points.microsoft.com/ and add the points there without having to sign-in to your xbox live.
I have done this a few times now and it seems to work well. Enjoy the free points! (And say thanks too....)
Some of the contest rules
Up to a maximum total of 24,000,000 Microsoft Points will be made available to Promotion entrants.
* 100 Points for registering for the Promotion for the first time (limit one (1) registration per entrant/email address during Entry Period); Thereafter, 50 Points can be earned each day for creating and entering a ‘ Dream Car’ (limit one (1) entry per entrant/email address per Calendar Day during the Entry Period)
* 50 Points can be earned for every one (1) “rating” made by entrant of a ‘Dream Car’ Entry posted on the Site’s gallery (limit one (1) rating/entrant/email address per Calendar Day during the Entry Period).
There is a maximum limit of 2,000 Points per entrant/email address during the Entry Period (while supplies for the Promotion last up to an aggregate total of 24,000,000).
If you have or make a gmail account, you can insert a period to get multiple points at one address:
Evilbore@gmail.com
E.vilbore@gmail.com
Ev.ilbore@gmail.com
it all goes to the same place. Also, you can enter all "1"s in the address section, just put in a valid State abbreviation and any five numbers for the zip. password is any 6 characters. You can also just hit forward and not even name the car. When you get the codes, you enter them at the site above-- NOT AT XBOX.com. It's points.microsoft.com.
Enough talk, have at them!

I don't know how long this will last either, so if it dies, someone say so (I'm all done with it and thought I'd pass it on.)
-
excellent, i have 700 points, just 100 points more for an arcade game.
thanks kranz.
-
holy shit, new trick.
Evilbore+a@gmail.com
Evilbore+a1@gmail.com
just add "+"something at the end. wow! okay, I'm back in. I'm at 1900, but you know, can never have too many carnival tickets.
-
This is the shit.
-
So this is Terminatorgate again
-
So this is Terminatorgate again
yep!
sweet. Milked about 4200 points and I'm done. I doubt I'll spend that much all year (plus I have tons from the target deals.)
-
4200? :lol
I got 1000 so far i think would like enough for the who pack at least
-
some more tips:
--apparently you can auto-fill the whole code with IE7 (the boxes weren't highlighted in firefox, I don't know how to work it...i just did ctrl+c, ctrl+v)
--These points expire on February 17th 2009 :-\ Not sure if that's the code for the points, or the points themselves. Keep that in mind...in case your point balance suddenly drops that day. purple monkey dishwasher (that'll help you remember this post.)
-
Thanks. I got 100. Good enough for me! :)
-

The Crackdown DLC is soo worth it.
-

i'm tempted to do this to get another xbla game...hmm...
and about soul calibur, it looks good but no story and online mode? meh, especially for a lonely taco like me.
-
I have to admit having wayyyy too much fun filling in LAN DI-SAMA for names :(
-
I'm doing my part to prevent the delisting of xbla games.
-
Got 200 points before the site stopped sending stuff. :'(
I just wanted to cover next week's rockband songs :'(
If I was in on this earlieir, I'd be playing Soul Calibur right now!
-
I didn't have the patience before, but I guess I regret it now.
-
I wonder if I can use http://temporaryinbox.com/
edit: oh, it's over? :(
-
I'm just getting the points but not spending them. don't want third parties to get sales so they don't go to psn.
(i managed to get 1600....but i dunno what to spend them on. i wanted mass effect dlc but i've heard its ridiculously bad).
-
it's no longer showing codes.
-
Yeah, just read that people are getting blank spaces for codes. Looks like it's over.

you can buy me ikaruga! :hyper
-
nuuuuu 200 more points and i would have had enough for n+ as well
oh well
-
speaking of n+ i bought it yesterday, amaaaazing game.
-
Mass Effect DLC is pretty fun. If you liked ME I'm sure you'd did the DLC. It's basically the most fleshed out non-story planet in the game.
-
i've seen concentration camp inmates more fleshed out than any of mass effect's non-story planets
-
i've seen concentration camp inmates more fleshed out than any of mass effect's non-story planets
o m g :lol :lol :lol
i'll try n+ and maybe ikaruga
still gotta buy shivering isles, this would make it cheap
-
it's done? :(
-
The DLC was kind of nice but man, drohne is dead on.
-
Wait, wouldn't the DLC be free when it comes out on PC? Or does Microsoft not care if you're getting fucked by PC owners instead of PS3 owners?
-
I assume it'll stay pay. Thinking back on the DLC, its about an hour, doesn't really add to the game, has a nice scenario, and the loot at the end justified it all for me. :dizzy
-
You cant copy paste the codes either i think
-

Worked fine for me as well.

Thanks, duder. I got 2100 points.
I might buy that Muse GH3 pack.
I am a whore.
-
Ended getting 2600 total myself. :lol

why would you buy shivering isles? it's availabe on disc, you can even rent it i'd imagine
shame i missed this, but i've got about 5000 as it is
-
Theres a dude at Cag that got 20,000. :-\ I felt like a whore when i got 2600 but jeesus. 20K.
-
goddamn. took long enough for me to get 4200. I could've had about 10,000 if I knew the "+" trick from the beginning (and if I had my technique down from the start.) wasted valuable time making new gmail accounts and figuring out the quickest way to do it.
This carnival ticket system does have its advantages. I've impulse bought points a couple times, but I haven't had to buy any since last summer, thanks to things like this (and good sales/coupons.)
-
Crap, I always miss out on these things. I would have bought SOOO many Rock Band songs. :'(
-
I loved the N+ demo but I put on my PSN chastity belt
sorry xbox live
(I bought it, wow, awesome)
-
The one time I go out at night, I end up missing something like this. :(
-
I was LTTP but tried anyway; ended up using two variants on my gmail address. It mailed me a note with a blank line where the promotion code should be.
Today I got mail from the promotion saying they apologize for not providing a code at the time, but HERE HAVE THIS. There was a new code for each of the email addresses I tried, but after successfully redeeming the first code, for the second code it said YOU HAVE ALREADY REDEEMED THE MAXIMUM POINTS FOR THIS PROMOTION.
...So. Looks like they shut it down when the noticed the 4200 points people, and tied the redeemable codes directly to the promotion, which is pretty smart.
-
Yeah... They fixed that days ago... Like the thread title suggests.
