yup. just sucks when misguided PC evangelists blame blizzard (WoW) for PC's downfall--truth is that blizzard is one of PC's last pillars (Steam being another).

I don't know what Asda is.

But I know Steam is providing a game distribution system that is largely superior and preferable to the brick and mortar retail model that IS kind of abandoning PC gaming. And that Steam as a platform IS very good for PC gaming and probably doing a LOT to keep it viable and profitable for all types of content providers.

RTS for the most part dont work well on consoles. I think MMORPGERs could work.

I'd definitely game more on PC if more non-eroge Japanese developers apart from Falcom (whose games don't even get picked up for release over here, either). PC elitists annoy me but I can see why they have a bitter resentment against consoles, since a lot of formerly PC only games/genres are getting a console push and watered down in the process.

Although the only RTS I actually enjoy was a console only release.

they might be referring to the flat planes units move on in other RTS. like ground units are all on the ground and air units are always a set distance from ground. maybe you can modify your units altitude or something.

though homeworld lets you battle in a completely 3D space already, so it still wouldn't be the first.

This. This game looks awful compared to what we're getting in Empire:TW.

RTS isn't going anywhere. Console RTS games will require a complete re-imagining to be really successful, and no one really seems up to doing that. And no, I don't think Ensemble is going to "get" console RTS with Halo Wars, despite how Bruce Shelley is going on about the game on his blog and on 1up.

Sure it got to be repetitve as all hell (especially by the time you get to the third island) but some of the big set piece battles were amazing, imo.

console gamers love dumbed down FPS games with relatively poor controls. they'll have no problem gobbling up console RTS.

not really. and the "level playing field" is more important to them anyway. it's not like most of these console gamers have significant experience with PC RTS anyway.

halo wars will pop a lot of RTS cherries. and just like halo, it'll create a wave of console-tards who think they know the genre. in 5 years, if PC gaming continues on this trend, i dont' think you'll be able to truthfully say 'RTS are a PC genre' anymore.

and yea, MMORPG's are probably next to make the transfer. something big has to happen to the PC gaming industry for this trend to change. i don't think blizzard can do it alone.
