-install all your games so they can collect the disks and dispose of them in an environmentally safe way
-repurpose the 360 as a netflix delivery box to recycle proactively

yes i say they are doing very well

It says a whole lot about the miserable state of things when the announcement of a multiplatform game makes the biggest splash.  :P

Nah, they have like two whole games that look great, and even a few more if you're one of those sods who own only a 360.

Uhh, so that's sort of like the by now ancient Eyetoy + XMB demonstration? I'm still annoyed that they haven't implemented that, would be a nice party trick. For the 360, that'd require one hell of a redesign from the current clunky, unresponsive and claustrophobic, but I guess anything is possible. You'd still have to deal with a distinguished mentally-challenged device as opposed to navigationg with hand gestures, but hey.

lol, owned

Except there is no distinguished mentally-challenged device... and no Minority Report navigation. Try harder, damn it. It's not like I run a clean operation here, so it should be no problem finding better owned-points.

In other news, I'm happy that the current SHIT interface is finally being sent to the dumps, where it has belonged all along.

Your right, your cardinal complaint, that they would release a half assed motion device, did not come true.

They did however totally redo their clunky ass interface, which is what you were hoping would be too much for them to do.

Then they threw in 8 man parties for the fuck of it and made 2.4 look like an even  bigger joke. With integration with all titles, no less.

Actually, I'm genuinely happy about it. When I had the loaner 360, the Dashboard was the by far most obnoxious thing about the whole experience. Going between the ultra-smooth, tree-based XMB to that shit, that was painful. This, is much better.

Still, community focus is crazy nerdy.

it is indeed nerdy, but it keeps sucking the wind out of sony's sails and forces them to squander more resources on their budget graphics solution cum blu-ray player. anything that makes kittonwy and tabris twitch is good by me, even if i'll never use it!

What I never understood about Sony and Home, and I don't understand about this party sharing stuff, is why allow it?  When I am in a party with friends, it will be lemon party pics everywhere all the time.  And I'm certain we'll eventually organize a Showgirls viewing party.  And that won't end well, either

It's the opposite of nerdy when you game with real friends.

Playing with real friends is pointless on PS3, which is why I don't game online on PS3.

Well, even I can agree with that. Still, commenting about budget graphics solutions when some evidence so clearly suggests otherwise sort of takes the sail out of your own voyage.

No, it's really not nerdy. When you're not playing with randoms then it's a necessity to be able to talk to each other and to stay in the same group, just as if you were hanging out at someone's house or going out to a restaurant or bowling or whatever.

Yeah, after today's Final Fantasy debacle I'm not even going to start the PS3 defense force engines up, except to say that I'll probably be playing it STILL on PS3, because I know it will work, unlike the 360, which has red-ringed three times.

I may be totally wrong here, but I do think MS was going to  introduce the xaggle, til the  wii 1:1 anouncement, and put the kabosh on the presentation which provided the mid show lulz but MS still had the ace in their pocket with the ffxiii announcement. I still can't wait for Sony's presentation as they may have an ace or 2. But this once staunch sfag now has no reason not to buy a 360 soon. The dashboard updates are really smart and cool and interest me a lot more than the FF announcement. I've never played one anyway.

I could easily take my 60GB PS3 and 15 disc games to trade in tomorrow for a 360 and some games but I think that would be foolish. However, MS has shown to me that they are at least trying to win. And that is a selling point to me.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Actually I wanted to get one for Fable 2 as posted a couple of weeks ago, but this strong showing is putting the wheels in motion faster.

The Final Fantasy debacle doesn't concern me at all. It should probably concern Sony, but my interest is squarely in what Sony's developers are cooking up. I once said that I'd ditch the system if Sucker Punch or Insomniac were ditched, and that's perfectly true. It's a good system, but it's worth nothing without the games from specifically those two developers. Still, I'll have to look into actually buying another 360 this Fall, I just hope the version out then is a very reliable one. I always knew that I'd play Gears 2 and Fable 2, but now the UI seems to become a lot less lame too.

Resistance 1 is great for a console shooter.  I have always been a fan of the Ratchet series, so I don't need to get into that there.  Even as a big PC gamer who things most console shooters are about an automatic 6 or 7 compared to the PC pumping out 10 shooters, Resistance 2 sounds amazing.

i'm interested in seeing resistance 2's co-op campaign and multiplayer.  PC games like swat 4 and raven shield are a lot of fun with their team co-op.  and i'm always interested in a game that attempts to do large scale multiplayer in a new way.

but resistance 1 was basically ps3's halo--for better and for worse.

They are brilliantly entertaining. Some more so than others, but at worst, an Insomniac game is going to be merely "good."

I'm hoping they will hit greatness with Resistance 2. Resistance was a very competent, well made shooter, but it was more of a Best Of FPS deal than a classic in its own right. Resistance 2 sounds like a good step up, in quite a few ways. And knowing that it will be polished is a good thing.

Not sure why I bother writing a serious response to one of your posts though.

Despite my antagonism towards Sfags, I'm far less biased than you'll ever be.  Have you ever seen me shill 360 exclusives or shit on PS3 games for no apparent reason?

I'm just not sure why someone with supposedly very high standards would care for Insomniac's very average games.

too human demo was great. from the nicely directed cutscenes with okay animation to the great dialog from npcs as you're pwning monsters to the wonderful and far from clunky melee combat. everything came together fairly nice.

but the absence of alan wake is a clear indication that msft is leaving the industry sometime soon.

Bring it on.  Now with full installs it's even less of an issue.

i wanted xaggle, and i have never played a ff game for more than ten minutes, so i am a little disappointed

but the new dash looks cool, and if everyone didn't live on opposite coasts or moonman countries i'd be happy to watch and poke fun at movies with you

also, lots of games i want this year

unfortunately, two of my rl friends will own ps3 systems by the end of the week, so i will have to buy a lot of multiplat titles on ps3

but left 4 dead, party system, let's rock it eb

Yeah, after today's Final Fantasy debacle I'm not even going to start the PS3 defense force engines up, except to say that I'll probably be playing it STILL on PS3, because I know it will work, unlike the 360, which has red-ringed three times.

What's so special about Insomniac's games?

Ratchet was pretty fun, at least compared to the rest of the PS3 demos I downloaded... price drop and I'll be picking it up. Resistance was kinda boring though, and I hate the shield+health system that this game and Halo 1 had. I have no idea who the hell Sucker Punch are, one of these obscure Sony first party teams I take it?
