<3 Bioware

Are they using some sort of custom engine this time? The game looks a lot worse than Mass Effect, though I suppose the change in scenery may necessitate that.

Mass Effect didn't have a single blade of grass nor tree (outside of inside cities). Rendering huge spaces of, uhh... sharp, flat mountains is pretty easy even for the clown PC.
While certainly true, that doesn't change the fact that it all looked really really good. I'm replaying it on the PC and seeing it all at a rock solid 60 fps is just stunning.
On the flipside, I thought The Witcher was actually akward looking. The character models were even remotely close to Mass Effect, the animation sucked, and the whole thing looked cheap. I know it was rendering more on screen at once, of course, but that doesn't make it attractive. Dragon Age looks similar to The Witcher to me. In some ways better while in others worse. Neither really impresses.

Bioware must keep a staff of really middle of the road b-team artists on hand for their PC projects.

Looks to be shaping up very nicely; definitely getting some Baldur's Gate vibes from those shots.
Zoomed in the graphics don't look that hot [except for one or two shots], but zoomed out it looks great.
-
Visually it looks awful. But, I've never been blown away by any Bioware game based on it's looks.
Still buying it.
-
Looks just like Baldur's Gate 'cept in 3D.
-
looks hot and sounds hotter :bow
-
So is this a top down or a 3ps? I know its not a shooter, I just didn't know what else to call it. DO you control the whole party or is it 4P co-op?
-
rts style drag-select and click controls, ala Baldur's gate and Neverwinter nights
-
i will defer judgment until i see STAT SCREENS. preferably several. if they are too simplistic, then thumbs down. if they are on par with AD&D 3E, DO WANT

3E? Sellout.
If it doesn't have some sort of THAC0 ripoff, the console gamers could keep this.

i'd PREFER 2E, but i liked icewind dale 2, and it was 3E. i should clarify that 3E is my minimum accepted level of complexity.

looks cool

equally important-LOOT. After the horror of itemization that was Mass Defect, if that shit only has three stats and a roman numeral after its name, it's shit/bin time.

First gameplay footage is streaming right now on IGN

"origin" means they are going back to their company "origin". Baldur's Gate fans will be really happy with it. Calls gaf out and says they are wrong. PC ONLY! PC MARKET MARKET NOT DEAD! Able to change perspectives how you want! shout out for eastern Europe superiority!
this rocks hard.

The LOTR trailers were a tough thing to swallow, but seeing some gameplay screenshots and some gameplay videos have me apprehensively excited again. Hopefully Bioware delivers.
-
fuck awesome
-
Bioware's triumphant return to PC RPGs, or more dumbed down console garbage? Stay tuned dear viewers, stay tuned.
