GFW Live is handling the online for this. I don't know what to think.

Apparently it means we get a friend list, achievements, party system, rank based match making, voice chat, etc, and it's all free. So I guess that's a good thing.

I just have so much ill will towards the entire GFW Live program that I can't shake.

I think a lot of PC gamers don't trust microsoft one bit on the pc nowadays. We all know that if needed Microsoft wouldn't hesitate to throw the PC gaming platform under the bus if it would help the xbox brand, and it's that mistrust that makes everyone go apeshit over GFW Live. Well that, and the fact that they want to get money for simple shit like matchmaking.  :lol

I think my only REAL problem with DOW2 (or any game, really) using GFW Live instead of Steam is that I like having that one buddy list. Start splitting up buddy lists, you have a PS3 situation, where each game is list independent, largely negating the usefulness of the list in the first place.

I wonder, can Steam detect when you're playing a NON-Steam game? That would be a very useful feature.

Yes, it can. I have some guildies (god, don't ask) show up the last week playing Warhammer Online.

Edit: I think Tyranid is gonna be the new race!  :hyper  Would be so badass.
