Hi there-
I got the QUAKE for Mac game disk here.
I need to extract the PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK files from the install data so that I can use them with the modern clients. (PAK files are Quakes equivalent of WAD files)
As you may know the installer which normally runs and extracts these files does not run on OS X, only OS9 and on Power PC macs.
I have read mention of people extracting these files form the disk using a manual process - but I cant seem to find a guide.
Anyone have any ideas or know where I might find help?
Thanks in advance.

if you've got a power pc mac, you could install classic support -- i just did so to play diablo 1 :/

Thats one of the clients that I want to use - but it does not come with a way ti extract the pak0.pak and pak1.pak files.....
I dont have a copy of OS9 laying around to boot up into classic mode on my G4 powerbook or G5 tower

Can't you just browse the CD? They're right inside the baseq3 folders on the disc.

Well - since I have the disk here, and called Macsoft who claimed they no longer supported it - I decided to get my pak files from another source ;)

I highly recommend the Tenbrae Quake- some screens;

Those screens hint at the awesome lighting etc but they still dont do it justice...If I run it at max rez with all FX on and AA X2 I only get 25-40 FPS....
Still tho its a fuck all wkyd mac client....
Right now I got a hardon over the Doomsday Engine with Heretic.wad <3<3<3
