do you have a vagina between your trembling legs or something? What the fuck do you drive a Focus for? Jesus MAF, are you actively trying to NOT GET LAID?

er, what? the focus is a pretty popular dude car up here in the northwest. it might not be a hyuck hyuck pick-em-up truck as preferred by rural quakers on the other coast, but it's hardly an audi tt or a vw bug or mini cooper or mazda miata. it's also a really popular model in europe.

the focus rs is one of the best rally cars ever made, to boot, and the st is a fuckin' beast. that's a pretty baffling observation, dude! did nikki get nailed in the back of a focus by some left coast boheme?

focuses seem to be fairly common here for a variety of driver here in DC

There's nothing wrong with the Focus, ford even uses a variation of it for its Rally competitions. I think you may have the focus confused with the fiesta, which could be considered a chick car.

Any focus I've been in is always totally pussified, and on top of that he posted what looks like hatch back version. Ew.

dude, the hatchback version is the fuckin' best, which is the ONLY model of RS -- and which is also a car that would curbstomp yer average V6 shitrig. if this thread turns into hating on the vw golf gti, it will be sad day for car fans all around

There are quite a few people down here who do some serious tuner work to import focuses.

yup, and the st pictured above is the spiritual successor to the classic late 80's/early 90's vw gti hatchback, against which no camaro can compete

I think he's just not factoring in the need for fuel efficiency

Type-R is probably the best hot hatch ever. Official figures for 0-60mph are 6.2, but it achieved 5.9 standard on a re-test

Fuel economy is so much better than similar hot hatches like the ST, the focus RS, golf R32 etc

i thought americans just drove automatics??????????

The Ford Focus isn't a chick car. A truck driver from Ford drives one and he's a 6' 2" martial arts expert who photographs naked women as a hobby.

YES.

I've always liked the Focus, but I just checked out the website and I thought it got better gas mileage than 24/35.  Jap cars ftw.

35mpg highway is only beaten by the Cobalt coupe manual with 36mpg. Corolla is 27/35, Civic is 26/34, the Mitsu Lancer is like 23/30 and so is the Nissan Sentra. Yet the Focus is sportier than any of those cars except maybe the Civic.

Even if it were a girls car, if you can drive it and still get laid that makes you a bigger man than the guy in the pickup truck.

Personally, I have a Civic and a pickup truck, and I alternate between the two depending on whether I want to pick up teenybopper girls or barnyard animals.

My car is a small hatch but it doesn't get particularly good fuel economy... The best I've seen so far is 25mpg on the highway but I hear the VR6's economy improves more over time  :-\  I probably wouldn't have gotten the car if I had to drive to work.

If I buy a car next summer (which I am planning to do as long as gas is not 10 dollars a gallon), it will probably be a pretty pimped Jetta or Golf/Rabbit.  I like the look of and the basic numbers of the Dodge Challenger for a relatively low-priced car.  I'd want to look into that more, though.

Challenger is pretty expensive if you want a V8, and the Camaro's V6 trounces the Challengers.

If you get a Jetta look into the new turbodiesel they're offering with like 50mpg.

What's the mileage on the Camaro?  The only reason that I'm seriously considering a Challenger is because it's at the 30mpg highway mark.

I'd have to worry about diesel gas coverage in my area, though, and although I haven't gone out of my way to see how many stations have diesel, I have a feeling it's not that many.

18k, not including the 75k bumper to bumper plan. After spending 2000 on my car last year, spending 1750 for up to 75,000 in bumper to bumper doesnt seem so bad.

Around these parts, the biggest chick cars are the RSX, the Eclipse, and the Jetta... oh yes, the Jetta, the car of choice for the Long Island JAPs. And around these parts, all the cool people drive TL's  8)

What's the mileage on the Camaro?  The only reason that I'm seriously considering a Challenger is because it's at the 30mpg highway mark.

Quote
If you get a Jetta look into the new turbodiesel they're offering with like 50mpg.

I'd have to worry about diesel gas coverage in my area, though, and although I haven't gone out of my way to see how many stations have diesel, I have a feeling it's not that many.

There are no mileage figures available for the Camaro yet, but it uses the same direct injection 3.6L v6 that gets 17/26 in the CTS. Are you sure the Challenger is getting 30mpg with the 3.5L? The Charger doesn't and I don't think Challenger EPA figures are out for the 3.5L. The Charger gets 17/24 with the same engine.

ALmost every station has diesel in NY, you sure?

edit: Even the Avenger only hits 30mpg with the 4cyl, v6 is 27mpg. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/FEG/bymake/Dodge2008.shtml

And I'm pretty sure there are no EPA figures for the 3.5L Challenger sincit's not coming out til next year. It's a very large vehicle, there's no way it's hiting 30mpg in any configuration.

TVC, the mileage numbers I'm hearing for the Camaro are about on par with the Challenger and Mustang. We won't know for sure until Monday at 4 PM EST...

Who cares - it's a car. All I care about is the gas mileage. I'd drive a pink sock if it gave me 50 miles a gallon

Its a bitchin car. First day I had it I had people wanting to talk to me about it in parking lots. Not a lot of 2008 focuses on the road around here yet.

I have a Civic DX and love it.

I also love getting 400 miles in a 10+ gallon tank with A/C.

To be fair, a normal driver would be getting about 300-320 miles per tank in my car.  I drive like a gas conserving nazi recently.  I have this shit down to a science.  I can still take off in my car if I need to, though.

This isn't 1965 anymore.

The Camaro is just a shorter, lighter Pontiac G8 which already hangs with the 5 series.

Can't you love both muscle cars and hot hatchbacks?  Foreign and domestic?  I know I do, when the car itself is good!

The Camaro has a fully independent suspension that originated from the Pontiac G8.
