Terrible art direction. Not to mention that Drudge looks straight out of Metroid Prime 2.

The aethetics and designs of this game are just awful, but on a technical level it is impressive for the Wii.  I think any game that comes out and is technically impressive for the Wii is good so others developing for the Wii get shown how pathetic and worthless they are.

Do they assume that just because it's on Wii, it needs to look like Metroid? Which itself had very strong and consistent art direction, but not such brilliant designs.

What I don't get is why there isn't a simple tourney style shooter on the system. Like, a Quake 3 clone, or UT clone. I'm not particularly happy with the Wii myself, but it has clearly been underutilized by developers.

There is.  It is called Monkey War and it is found in Super Monkey Ball as a mini-game.  Best FPS controls on the Wii until Link's Crossbow training.

I was playing Link's Crossbow Training yesterday... surprisingly a REALLY fun carnival-esque shooter/target practice game, with some cool "FPS" parts liberally sprinkled through the game. Link's CBT (Crossbow Training not Cock&Ball Torture you pervs) reminds me a lot of an old NES game like Hogan's Alley or something.

Artwork is...not so good. If the game actually plays well like the hands-on says, VGCharz LOL, then that won't really matter, but I'll wait to hear from more reputable sources.

Chris Remo seemed to really like it. Art style is :yuck, but the game itself seems fun. 16 player online and WiiSpeak support shows that they're at least putting effort into it.

Well, they have been stuck creating licensed games and ports for the past ten years, so it's not surprising that they aren't too hot when it comes to making their own artwork for a new IP.

Having said that, they desperately need to bring in some good artists.

I feel sorry for the guys doing the technical side of the game because it seems they've put in some work on that side, but then the artists fill it with this derivative uninspired garbage.

This will be the most homoerotic game ever to be released in gaming history until Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics comes out.

I feel sorry for them too. It's like forcing an orchestra to perform the Jupiter Symphony with banjos and accordions, while recording them on a phonograph cylinder.

Do you think that Michael Andretti would enjoy driving around in a Chevy Cavalier? Do you think he'd have fun?

i have yet to meet a single developer excited to work on a wii game, licensed OR original. i know a few pumped to develop for the ps3, but they also like getting their balls smacked around by an obese woman in leather.

I dunno maybe.

It would sadden me if people whose profession is making videogames, hate videogames.

Oh shut the fuck up Wii hater. The Conduit easily has better art than Killzone 2 and Gears 2.

I'd say it's even comparable to Blizzard artwork.

:bow :bow :bow DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE SOFTWARE

this is true, its probably better than Blizzard's imo
