So the game got an official arcade release a few days ago. Anyone played it yet?
I'm going to head down to the local game center in a few minutes and see if they have any cabs.
-
To be fair, it looks less like crap than I thought it would.
-
looks like mad fun, will get for sure.
-
It looks amazing and will be a day one purchase. I'm trying to think of some local arcades but I think they all closed down years ago... there was one in a mall nearby but that shut down.

WOW WOW WOW WOWEEE WOW WOW
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
The game is AWESOME. The feel of a 2D fighter is dead-on, even better than Battle Fantasia (which SF4 puts to shame, quite frankly). I made a character card for Chun-Li, but wound up using (and dominating!) with Zangief most of the time. Tried all four new characters; I love Abel, C. Viper and Rufus are okay, and I'm not feeling El Fuerte.
Golfland might get a cab :o
Haha, "a cab." I'm spoiled, sorry. :P
They had four cabs at the game center, and as I was playing, they brought in four more. :o Guess they expect this game to be a big hit, because they've never had that many machines for any other game in all the time I've been here.

The Aloha State on vacation, no time for internets. I gotta go hop on a train to Tokyo in a few hours, too. No time to relax!
-
I doubt anywhere in NYC will get this. :(
-
I've spent over $3000 to not have to go to an arcade ever again. I'll just wait. Plus, people get pissed when they lose in public.

It doesn't matter how much you spend, it's never the same. The dingy, grimy interior and cigarette burns? It's all part of the atmosphere. :lol
Here, s'great. The arcade is brightly lit, HUGE, *CLEAN*, well air-conditioned, and they even have all kinds of snacks and drinks you can buy. Plus J-players don't pitch fits when they lose, they just sorta slink away.

It's out already?

I should clarify this is for Japan. I don't know about a "world" release. Sadly I'd expect imported cabs to be "gimped" as they won't use the cards for records and character customization.

I went and checked it out yesterday. I didn't play it though, cause there was a bunch of badasses playing and I didn't want to be laughed out of there. It doesn't look too bad actually. It reminded me too much of Capcom vs Snk 2 though.

Haha, there was this one guy there that was pretty nasty with Ryu. I beat with him Zangief once and then he came back and got me every time. I used the opportunity to try the new characters and see how they did against him. Abel kicked HIS ASS; rolling through fireballs and n' grabbing is awesome.
The game reminds me more of a cross between Super Turbo and 3rd Strike. It stays pretty close to its routes. I also LOVE not having parrying; was never a fan of that.
-
I'll go give it a proper go sometime next week when holidays start
-
Sounds awesome. Hopefully the console versions will be nearly as fun.
-
what hardware platform does this run on
-
Taito Type X-2. The game runs at 720p in widescreen. There's no question that perfect Xbox 360, PS3, and PC ports will be possible.
There's already some console-style options available too. You can pick from arcade mode, beginner mode, trial mode, and one more that I can't remember.
I wonder if this game is gonna get a quick n' dirty home port, or a lot of extras added. Hopefully it's more than just two more characters (in what appears to be Fei Long and Dan).
-
How's the music? I also hear that a lot of the stages are reused for the characters. Is that true?
Regardless, I'm pumped. :D
-
Couldn't hear the music very well, even though the voices and sound effects were clear. It sounded like it might be a pumping electronic soundtrack like SF3 had.
It seemed like despite some characters have stags that "fit" them, the game ignored this and you play on random stages every time. I didn't see stages for every character, but it also didn't go to some stages more than once when I was playing.
-
The music from the trailer was awesome, but I am hoping it isn't shit that was in MvC2 or SF3 Third Stike.
-
I went and played this today finally. Pretty sweet. Felt like a regular street fighter, and I didn't think that it looked crappy at all while playing. I was kicking arse too, about 7 fights in when some super nerd came and busted me up. Then I had to do the ultra embarrassing walk past him to leave the place.
-
Houston arcades should get this soon
-
After a tiring search yesterday, we came to the conclusion that SF4 is not in any of the arcades here in Bumblefuck, Japan. So it was back to the "big" city today to play more SF4. I am getting tired of the shit I am seeing Ryu players do; it's basic stuff but I cannot seem to get past it with most characters. I am still not understanding this revenge stuff, I guess.
So I got sick of this one dude's shit, picked THE GIEF, and beat the ever-lovin' shit out of him. It felt GOOD.
