damn you

On Capcom's Mega Man 9: I'm watching that very closely to see how it does. Myself, I'm a big retro gaming fan, so if it is successful that definitely opens up doors for what I can do.
On whether Castlevania just doesn't work in 3-D: Not at all. It's not the franchise itself that won't go to 3-D. I'm actually very frustrated about that and I want to keep trying because I think the franchise can do well in 3-D.
So we'll get reused 8-bit sprites and MORE 3D CASTLEVANIA ON CONSOLES.
damn it iga
damn it to hell
just make another console 2D metroidvania; is it that hard

3DVanias :-X
Oh, snap, Crushed, you're senior member already.

This confuses me. Rondo and SC4 are the two best old style Castlevania games. You can make a case for Castlevania 3 being one of the best, but I would say you are wrong. 8-bit isn't a genre.
I also don't trust him to make an old style Castlevania (I am a fan of the SotN clones, but I don't think he will be able to do an old style one again).
-
fuck metroidvania. classic castlevania gameplay in 2d on a proper (HD) console please.
-
8-bit isn't a genre.
It is now. :(
-
I'm sick and fucking tired of rehashed Metroidvanias.
Try something new Iga, for Christ's sake.
-
Oh he must be salivating. A whole new generation of sprites to recycle.

that's what i posted on gaf. dude is stupid and nintards that thought for a week mm9 was exclusive to wii have invested too much into defending NES level presentation.

Its easy IGA...
1 game + 8-12 stages + 8-12 boss battles + well scripted stages/events + killer music
no fucking metroidvania, backtracking or item hunts.
-
Yeah, it's called "God of War."

Yeah, it's called "God of War."
no no no ono non non ononon oo non on on n ono ono!
God of War is not what 3D Castlevania should be at all. IGA's problem is that he keeps copying other games, but not the right ones. Don't copy Devil May Cry, copy and improve Castlevania 64. Don't keep copying SoTN, copy Circle of the Moon.

The best is that the defense used for why MM9 should be 8-bit is actually now what they are using to justify why it should be 8-bit. It is almost like the hive forgot about what they were talking about mere weeks ago and now are all aboard the hypocrisy train heading for hyperbole village.
-
add a scoring system - and plenty of stage secrets/easter eggs.
-
If MM9 does well, we'll get Castlevania 5 within 6 months.
-
Isnt an 8bit castlevania still preferable to the abhorrence that is 3D castlevania?
-
Eh, unlike Mega Man, Castlevania's 8bit iterations don't hold up that well gameplay wise. Old Mega Man still controls flawlessly while the Belmonts now feel slow and clunky. If they have to reuse old assets I would much prefer them doing a Simon's Quest sequel using Castlevania IV's engine. That would be an interesting mix.
-
8-bit is right for Mega Man, but I don't think it's really the best era for Castlevania.
That said, I'd still buy it! Even if only to piss off youngsters like Kev!
Totally agree with you, Oscar... I'd love to see a return to the more traditional, pre-metroidvania gameplay of the CV series, but detailed 2D sprites and backgrounds are much more suited to CV... hell, even the 8-bit CV games were overflowing with background detail.
