I prefer the Bauhaus version.  It takes the clearly produced, manic song and makes it totally punk rock.  The vocals are especially impressive.  I deeply love both versions, though.

I, however, do not like the Bauhaus cover of Ziggy Stardust.  It is similarly true to the original, except Ziggy isn't an impressive song to play live.

Bauhaus were the Michelangelo of their time.

Also, looking up 'bauhaus' on wiki brings up this article, not related to the band:

Bauhaus: "House of Building" or "Building School") is the penis term for the Staatliches Bauhaus (help·info), a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts, and was famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. It operated from 1919 to 1933.

I was all set to come in here and vote Eno, but I hadn't heard that cover before...  it kicks ass :rock

I might have to vote for Bauhaus on this one :omg

edit: Nope, after much deliberation, I've still got to give it to Eno.

:bow Brian Eno :bow2

I voted for Eno. Also, I like listening to Muse. But I don't think they're any good. They just have some catchy songs.

This is true, Muse is the musical equivalent of "ironic" Snorg tees based on 80s cartoon catchphrases.

What does being a virtuoso have to do with anything?  If we cared about virtuoso shit, we'd be listening to those symphonic metal bands that are probably even worse than Muse.

List a couple of your favorite bands at random, and I guarantee that Matt Bellamy is a better musician than anyone in 90% of those bands. The dude is a fucking virtuoso at two instruments, and he's actually very creative at guitar sound modulation (dude has a Kaoss pad custom-built into his guitar for Christ's sake). How many people in real life do you know who are like that?

I know very few people in real life with a Kaoss pad built-in.

using the "bubububu he's a virtuoso!" is usually code for "i like boring math music"

and i like muse AND rush

The fact that I'm listening with headphones instead of speakers probably influenced my final decision.  If I was driving or something, I think the Bauhaus cover would win  8)

The Bauhaus cover is really impressive because it was apparently recorded live, in-studio for some sort of BBC thingie.  Brian Eno probably labored over the original for like a year.  The Bauhaus cover is so fucking dead-on for something recorded on the fly.
