Speaking to MCV, Sony Computer Entertainment global president Kaz Hirai has said it doesn't matter when exactly Home - the PS3's virtual community - launches, so long as it offers the very best service to gamers around the world.
"I'd much rather make sure we take the time to have a great service rather than rush something into the market - only for consumers to say: "This is not enough for me." I want to avoid that," said Hirai. "If we have the right service, it doesn't matter when we launch - so long as it's in a reasonable timeframe."
He continued: "Whether our competitors decide to follow what we've done with Home or not follow us, that's up to them. Given the fact that I've delayed the launch of Home twice - for which I've apologised - I think I've done it for a very good reason, and that's because I want to bring the very best service possible to consumers around the world.
Ah shit...wrong side. :'(

The whole concept of Home is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged when you consider that 95% of the people on PSN are going to be dudes.

Home's non-game status has also been confirmed.who was stupid enough to think Home was ever supposed to be a game? it's a service.
Yes, Gmail, the beta service which is publically available... for some time nowwhat part are you confused about? yeah, gmail's been in public 'beta' status for a long time. Home's fall beta will supposedly be similar, in that it's basically the public launch but will carry the 'beta' tag for a long time as they implement changes.
Susan Panico, senior director of PSN, spoke to Wired about the availability of Home. It will be an "open, working beta." According to Panico, the "rollout will be similar to Gmail." Finally, it will be available this year.
