I played a few hours before going out tonight, despite the negative press this is one seriously fun and demanding action title. The storyline is extemely incomprihensible, and you can never quite fugure out if they are actually taking the piss or not. And the likeness of Chow Yun Fat is pretty much irresistable. Well thought out achievements round out the whole package perfectly
8.5/10

I still haven't went past the third level. I bought it on the PS3 so I can have Hardboiled in the slightly higher than DVD resolution they provide, but whatever that level was that ended with you on a helicopter was really boring. The first level was fun, but that other level really was fatiguing. I have to go back and finish it one day.
-
How much did you pay for it?
-
about 50 New Zealand dollars, around 6 months ago

yeah iwas stuck on one really tricky level for ages, had dudes coming from everywhere to snipe you out. Once you get back to the run and gun style shootout levels, thats when the game really shines. Basically non-stop diving and shooting guys in the head

If you go to the unlockables screen, John Woo is hanging out in the bar smoking a cigarette and compliments you when you unlock shit.
Fun game, only level that pissed me off was the shit with the lasers
-
lol, you get an achievement just for going to that screen, its awesome
-
Only real John Woo niccas beat the game on Hard Boiled
-
awesome, got the 'dont use the guitar cases' achievement. What a sweet ass game
-
I liked the demo a lot. Don't get why everyone pissed on it. The full game can't be much different than the demo, right? Shooting slow-mo bullets into bad guys' nuts was endlessly amusing.
-
stranglehold is a fun rental, I liked it up till it got really annoying and hard

Yeah I have no idea why the game got panned as hard as it did, probably becuase its not as polished as other 3d action shooters.... its still awesome. Celebrity likenesses rule. Onimusha 3 was awesome too
-
woo just beat it, that was fucking short
gonna go through again on Hard Boiled I think
-
This game was MUCH better on the PC. The aiming on the consoles always felt as if it wasn't quite tuned for a gamepad and was annoying. Using a mouse, you are able to perfectly execute shots and it ends up feeling much better as a result. Furthermore, the game has no problems hitting 60 fps on a reasonable PC and it benefits greatly (as expected). It's also very cheap in many places (I got it for $7.96 back in December).
-
damn game is quite tough on Hard Boiled, stuck on the boss 'Lok' in the restaurant level, hes tough! Since barrage is nerfed on hardboiled Im having trouble taking him down
-
I saw a bunch of $15 (360) copies at Best Buy last night.
-
Damn. I'd pick it up at that price.
-
Strangledhold ain't no Max Payne but it was a pretty fun ride. Definitely worth picking up at $15.
-
fuck the museum level is tough on hard boiled, I imagine the last stage is a real bitch
-
Found it for 2000 yen at A-Too in Nipponbashi, US version and all. Wooo!
I'm not hopeful that it'll be a "masterpiece," but I'll be stunned if it isn't at least 20 bucks worth of fun.
-
Dives and slo-mo are fun in movies because they're not happening every 6 seconds. I couldn't dig this game, it just felt way over the top.
-
Bought this, $20
-
awesome. Make sure you beat it on Hard Boiled like me and demi 8)

thats the whole point!
-
Max PAyne is better.
-
Yes, but this rox
-
I finished it, and played it recently on the PC again, but the game deleted my save games out of nowhere...
I was getting to my favorite part too, Chow Yun fat dual weilding while wearing a suit and sun glasses = Badass.
-
It's as good a Max Payne sequel we'll ever get :(
It got shit b/c it's 4 hours long, has a worthless MP, and cost $60. The PS3 version looked a lot worse than the 360 version so that hurt it on many forums and blogs as well. It is fun though.
-
Yeah, I was wondering if the 360 version also looked this bad and had as many visual errors. I bought the PS3 version for Hard Boiled in 'HD' (which it isn't...), and at points it just looks awful. Cut scenes especially look remarkably bad.
-
I think the visual artifacts are just due to the game. The PC version looked weird and ran poorly in certain places too, although I haven't tried it again with the 280GTXes.
-
It was Max Payne without a good story...

It was Max Payne without a good story...
Cool so it has enjoyable gameplay, reason enough to play it
-
It doesn't look that great on 360 either. But it's def fun, blowing up these drug dens is fuck awesome
-
-end of chapter 2 sucks
-beginning of chapter 3 caused totally insane N64-style frame drops that made it unplayable
Honeymoon over?
-
thought the demo was meh
-
Which chapter is chapter 3? is that the one with the guitar cases, or the one where you plant bombs?
-
Guitar cases.
I beat it without using the guitar cases but didn't get the achievement. I also didn't get the achievements for killing 50 dudes with the environment yet, I feel like I should have. Maybe precision aim too.
-
You used the guitars then. No achievement is glitched, as much as you'd like to convince yourself.
-
Didn't
Maybe you can't die? I died when it hit 5fps
-
Do it on the easiest setting
-
Wanted to do it without a replay, past it now anyway so I'll just go back on Casual.

Hell yeah it does,
