Title: I'll be cooking for seven hours today
Post by: Billy Rygar on July 27, 2008, 06:18:40 PM: On friday i decided it would be a good idea to have a few over and cook something simple for them. Somehow this quickly turned into 10+ people coming over and me cooking everything (and I mean everything, even the bread) from scratch. Right now I'm drying off an 8 pound roast that is going to be braised and letting like four loaves of bread dough rise, while prepping a tart crust. Hopefully wine will get me through this.

i'm going to go ahead and blame patel for this, since the recipes came out of the book he got me.

That sounds like fun actually. I'm sure everything will turn out delicious. I agree with the pics. Show that shit to me mon.

Which book was it? I'm always down for another cookbook that I'll never use, I'm terrible about using like 4% of my cookbooks at most.

I totally invented a recipe last night that turned out AWESOME

lamb chops in a glaze that was 2 tbps mirin, 2 tbps soy sauce, 2 tbps brown sugar, 1 tsp Sriracha chili sauce, 2 cloves garlic, and 1 tsp diced mint

dammmmn it was good

Cooking is AMEN AMAZIN' at the end of the day when you spend your entire day creating nothing but bits in a code repository. It's tangible! Touch! Taste! Smell! Everyone should cook.

added bonus-when you cook for yourself, you eat like 1000x better than if you go with HUNGRY MAN TV DINNER RIBS or what not.
