Woody Allen has had better luck with dramas than comedies lately--and even his dramas have been pretty scattershot--but there's reason to hope his new movie with Larry David might have some legit laughs. Allen tells The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the movie is called Whatever Works and it's "a slightly different one for me. It's a blackish comedy." That's not a surprise coming from David, who Allen says has "a great, what would you call it, sarcastic, sour or vitriolic, wonderful, wonderful, no nonsense sense of humor."

"I think I'm more illusory than him," Allen added. "He's a stronger personality. I'm more of a schlemiel, a dope. I would be the guy they would plant the microfilm on and I would never know it, and I would be out there wondering why people are shooting at me. Larry has a different quality." There is no further info on Whatever Works as of now; Allen's latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona comes out Aug. 15.

OMG if this works.

OMG we must see this.

And rent Deconstructing Harry (I remember it not being bad, but I was a teenager).

And get Thera to start posting here (he was bad, but he was a teenager).

I'm guessing that Larry David will be playing the Woody Allen character in this movie.  He'd best be letting David help with the writing, too.

70 year old men, even those who are Jewish and weird looking, are not funny

I was talking about Woody, who has to be well over 70.

Oh man this could be awesome. Maybe Larry David can help Woody Allen stop sucking. I saw Scoop yesterday and it was pretty mediocre.

YES YES YES DO WANT

Deconstructing Harry WAS pretty awesome, at least IMO.

Thera (Seamus) hate hate HATED his dad, tho.  Of course when I was a teenager and my parents were going through their second divorce (from each other!) I hated my dad too, since he was the one who left for another woman.  As I grew older I realized that my mother was obnoxious and had no sense of humor, so I could see why living with her for the rest of his life would suck.
