- nothing too high-quality
- mainly looking to make home videos. such as recording me playing an instrument, uploading on youtube, that kinda stuff
- bang for the buck is important
- as always, reliability is important
- obviously, too cheap is bad too [i.e. bad quality]
plz recomend
PS: i really dont know jack about this area. to clarify: i'm not looking for the 'taking pics' part, but rather 'taking footage' part

So you're after a dedicated video camera rather than a still camera?
I haven't looked for quite a while, but my understanding is cameras that use flash cards are slowly coming out which I think I'd go for over a hard drive unit considering flash cards are always coming down in price.
Look for something that can shoot in poor light if you're using it at home - you'll see their ratings like 3lux, 5lux, 15 lux and so on. Try to get something maybe around 3lux or so.
Panasonics and Canons are pretty good. I've noticed a lot of even the cheaper Panasonics are coming with optical image stabilisers which is a very good thing.
Dunno if that helps.
