Game's still fantastic online. It's a good break from the Relic RTS games I've been playing almost nonstop for months now.

Usually play through two or so games everday against the hard AI. A bit easy, but I was always a shark at Catan even against humans.

This is where most of my play time has been going. Finishing up the Grand Campaign on two separate run throughs now, one on the medium difficultly track and one on the hard difficultly track. The game is really one of a kind, but even with all of the improvements of the enhanced edition the game still sort of fails to really incorporate all of the cool concepts into what the game could be. I'm still very satisfied, though, with what the game actually is, thankfully.

argh - more supreme commander haunting...

That my top list must have at the moment - and I still dont have my Windows license.

Does it really play as smoothe as it looks in the videos - zooming in and out on parts of the battlefield?

Im gonna run it on a dual core 2.14 ghz machine with 1 GB ram/ATI 256MB and a dual core 3.06 gHZ machine with 4 GB RAM/Nvidia 500MB...Im sure the beef machine can do it - but can the 1GB RAM machine hang?

It'll run like crap on both your computers if you don't tone down the settings.  SC is one of the most hardware demanding games.

Yeah SC brought my above average rig to its knees half the time. Most of the reason i didnt bother playing it past a few tries.

The 1GB machine will do fine on most maps with 2 people playing, will be quite smooth. It will only run into problems on the 10x10 or greater maps with larger number of players.

I love the changes to the game that they made in the expansion. Not so keen on the new faction, but the unit additions and template building really rounded out the game for me (and I already loved it bunches to begin with.)

I just went on what must have been the most assinine newb WOW adventure....so I just started playing and I was trollin around with my lvl 8 undead rogue doin ninja tactics on gravediggers when this orc approaches me asking for 5 gold. Thats cool but I only have 7 silver and none of the weapons he was trying to pawn off on me were useful...so he keeps typing "come on!"....anyway so he talks me into flying all over azeroth with him while he spare-changed all of these other high level players - it waas pretty pathetic - nobody gave him money....this one guy on a mount wanted to duel for 5 gold but he wouldnt do it.

Finally he took me out to a cave where some summoned demon killed me.

The end

I'm still playing "the moving game."  At the in-laws house until I land a job; gotta get all our crap unpacked and organized.

Free time is Soul Calibur 4 on PS3 and 360.  Need to get back to MGS2 Substance, and go through it already so I can finally play MGS4.

And I gotta see if there's a game center around here or I'm gonna go nuts-- need an SF4 fix!

Saturday: I'm gonna beat the story mode of Wartech: Senko no Ronde with the final character and maybe try out the score attack mode. Also gonna beat Earth Defense Force 2017 on normal with my cousin. I might try to get back into Etrian Odyssey too.

Here's what I've done so far:

Every Extend Extra X360 - Finished R4 Revenge, got all achievements except online

Zuma - Tried to finish Adventure Mode, but failed on 12-7 (last level is 13-1, go figure), at least I unlocked an achievement that glitched before. Still havent got the 24 hour achievement, which is pretty fuckin weird since I'm certain I played more than 24 hours on that.

Here's what I'll probably do:

Operation Darkness
Fable PC

I'm pretty much done with Soul Calibur IV.  The Tower of Souls sucks, the story mode is just too repetitive, and the character customization is too limited.  SC4 is a step backwards for the series, imo.

When out and got Battlefield Bad Company for the 360 today.  I wish the single player game was less linear and more sandboxy and the instant respawn after you die takes any tension out of the battles but it's still fun to blow shit up.

I'm still playing Persona 3 FES.  I've sunk like 50 hours into it and am only in late September wtf UGH.  Fucking jrpgs.

I'm about to come upon a bunch of free time and am pondering conducting a bold new social experiment:  playing ALL 3 XENOSAGA GAMES BACK TO BACK TO BACK.  I want to know if such a thing is possible or if the test subject would be reduced to incoherence soon into the second game.  Sadly I have yet to find a volunteer for this experiment so I am thinking of subjecting myself to it...

I didn't follow through with all my games. Instead I popped in Final Fantasy 3 NES on the PSP at work yesterday and got pretty hooked on it. I only played a little of it on the DS before I got distracted by other things but this game definitely appears to be a lot harder.

Though I think I have reach the point, much like in the original FF, where the game stops being tough and the characters may have become a bit too overpowered.  Fun stuff so far. I wonder why it never got a release here.

Played through most of the Oath in Felghana, I'm up to the end of Valestein Castle now, gotta beat the boss there, then on to the final area of the game. Will probably beat it this week. Got Medal of Honor Airborne working, and it's pretty much as brilliant as I remembered from the console version, but I've had it up to here with WWII. Hopefully they can work on a modern warfare (or hell, future warfare) MOH now, because it's pretty damned obvious that the core gameplay slaps the living shit out of that of most other first person games. And there have been some moments, in close up battles against Germans, that it has come very close to feeling disturbingly real.

Once you play Oath it's pretty much downhill from there. I thought Ys IV SNES was a bland retreed of the first game, and Origin has a great combat system but lacks the adventrous elements of its predecessors. I haven't played the Turbo version of Ys IV yet but I've heard it's more like the second game. Ark is pretty fun and lengthy, and from what I've played Ys V seems similar in style to the action RPGs of the SNES era like Secret of Mana and Illusion of Gaia. Looks like it could be fun but I'm waiting for the patch as well.

Quote
Got Medal of Honor Airborne

i keep meaning to go back to this one. Perhaps that can be my latest long term squeeze? :)

It's not bad, but it unfortunately becomes a by the numbers affair pretty fast. The WWII angle is a hard sell, and the death from above angle isn't attractive enough to turn old piss into sweet nectar. I think I'm fairly alone in actually liking the real-time reward system, but it's pretty annoying that they gave the standard guns such heavy recoil that they were practically useless until the first upgrade.

And as annoying it is to admit this, I personally have a hard time accepting how massively they missed their initial target in terms of visual quality. I know they ran into critical issues with Renderware and that they had to switch to UE3 mid-project, but that knowledge doesn't make it easier to swallow. There are some genuinely fucked up things to the presentation, like light emanating from sources that I think should simply be reflective and therefore somewhat shiny, as opposed to luminous. Still, some areas and scenarios look hot, and I guess you have to respect the open ended nature of the game.

But the gunplay is hot, and some encounters are still awesome, despite the tired historical setting. I think these guys could do great things, given a different setting. For all my complaints, I still think this one has been unfairly received by "professional critics" pretty much everywhere. It seems like Airborne was targeted for all of its faults while scarcely recognized for its strengths, presumably to make up for the same critics turning a blind eye to flaws and exaggerating strengths in other games. At least they tried to go that extra mile, you know, and the game as such is hardly critically flawed.

Post by: demi on August 03, 2008, 11:54:41 PM
Airborne was pretty lame, and then the entire last level was like something out of Wolfenstein - BLACK TOWER or something, complete with black-laden huge machinegun using gas-mask wearing enemies.

I'm at the panzershrecks by the bridge now, and this type of hardened "boss" sections have been the weak points of every level so far. I'm still in mild disbelief over that they actually made me collect pieces to build my own recoilless rifle in order to take out a tank.

That, and the briefings can take a hike into the nearest tar pit. We get it, very important stuff, blah blah. Just let me jump and kill some Germans.

TQ Immortal Throne, Level 35 and 2/3 of the way through Act V on Normal. Not sure if I'll go ahead with Epic.

Do it, Epic is fun. Here's my Lv. 49 Dreamkiller, about a 1/3rd of the way through Act V on Epic.
