Title: moral dilemma: should I quit work?
Post by: Madrun Badrun on August 05, 2008, 01:41:26 PM
So this thing with my butt isn't healing.  Originally every doctor I saw said it would only take 3 weeks to heal at most that was like 5 weeks ago and now my doctor says it will probably take all this month to.  It's still painful to work so I doubt I'll be getting in at all this month.  Now I go to school in September so I would be quitting anyways at the end of the month. Though i haven't got a real confirmation yet so if i quit now and don't get it I'll be screwed.

Currently I'm on short term sick leave, so they can't fire me and I still get paid.  If I quit I lose my benefits and I have a dentist appointment on Friday.  This should have been done a long time ago but they didn't give me my benefit forms until last month, even though I should have had them in May, so I'm kind of pissed at them for this.  Also If I quit now I won't get the credit card I wanted because it requires me to be working to get it.

Anyways I feel rather bad about not being able to work.  Had I know that I'd be off so long I would have quit a month ago.   I like working there a lot.  I liked being out of the house and I wish I could still be working now.  My mom, who use to work at the same place says they have insurance to pay for their employees sick leave, still I feel bad about it.  I'd also like to try and leave on good terms just in case I can work their again next summer.

So should I quit and lose a lot of money just because I feel like I'm taking advantage of them, even though it's really the insurance company tha4's losing out.  Or should I hang on for a bit longer?

Businesses won't show you any loyalty when they get squeezed, so just take advantage of it.

That's what my mom said with is surprising because normally she's super loyal.

I like my bosses though and don't want them to think bad of me.  It sounds stupid and I feel stupid for feeling bad about this but I still do.   :(

If these bosses that you like give a shit about you, they will understand the situation and want to support you. Loyalty towards a business is nearly always misplaced loyalty.

You are one of the few and infrequent who actually benefit from insurance, which is the way it is designed to work (i.e. benefits from unforeseen circumstances). From what you've told, it doesn't sound like you are throwing the company under the bus in the least. As others have already said, there is no loyalty in business, but this is irrelevant anyways. You should just reap the benefits from insurance if you qualify. Many pay for the few

Also, what's up your ass?

Thanks.  It really isn't that bad.  Right now it is just a cut about the size of my pinkey round and to the top of the nail deep.  It's small but it's right at the bottem of my tailbone so when ever I bend over it pulls and rips and hurts.  All I do at work is bend over for wood so I can't work.

Yes I know what I said, fuckers.

 :lol

I'm with everyone else. You're feeling bad for nothing. It might be different if this was a self-inflicted injury from say, stupidity, but this injury is pretty much out of your hands.

I had something else to say, but someone is watching Battlestar Galactica nearby, and I fucking cringe when I hear the non-word "Frak". Totally derailed me.

After you get stung once you learn, although I think it would be best to put in your 2 weeks and try to leave on amiable terms so you can get a referee.

You're still young though, right? You can probably get another job once you're better, and not have to worry about a referral from this one.

:shh That hole's going to be worth more on Craigslist if it's advertised as "Virgin Tight".
