I'm not exactly a film buff. Over the past few years though, I've been exposed to a lot of different film though.
There are still a lot of movies I need to see. Iconic movies like Alien, Aliens, Airplane, Pretty in Pink... Shit, I just saw Ferris Bueller for the first time just a few months ago.
Help me evilbore. Give me the ultimate 80's movie list.
-
I just saw The Goonies last Thursday, if it makes you feel any better.
Let's see, there's the TVC favorite The Breakfast Club, the National Lampoon movies, the Police Academy movies, Beverly Hills Cop, Commando, Terminator 1, the Rambos, the Rockys, etc.
-
RoboCop, Big, Gremlins, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Back to School, Porky's, Revenge of the Nerds, and Scarface.

Not really. Real men don't fight for freedom or honor, they fight to kill guys and have awesome one-liners that might be puns.
Plus, it really needs to have guns in order to count.
-
Fuck no. The shitty Braveheart "freeeedom" shit kills action movies these days.
Fuck Braveheart. Fuck it in its ass.
and i shall call you brother!
fuck braveheart so hard.
and gladiator

What about Blue Velvet?!
-
wait, did you want hong kong movies too? that was probably the most creative time in HK film
YES
-
If you're talking 80s, anything featuring any of the Brat Pack is pretty essential. I really need to see St. Elmo's Fire.
-
wait, did you want hong kong movies too? that was probably the most creative time in HK film
YES
woof.
ok that's going to be a HUGE list. lots of people did lots of good stuff in that time period
you may want to look into netflix if you haven't already
-
Not necessarily good, but musthaveseens:
* Lone Wolf McQuade (lots of memorable one liners)
* Karate Tiger 1 (it doesn't get any cheesier, does it?)
-
Real Genius. Some of the best, most-quoted lines by geeks come from this movie.
Susan: "Can you hammer a six inch spike through a board with your penis?"
Chris: "Not right now."
Susan: "A girl's gotta have her standards."
-
Another must-see from the 80's:
