Title: RUMOR: NEW SUIKODEN
Post by: Himu on August 06, 2008, 08:30:35 PM
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Quote
Konami has been quiet about the Suikoden series. I believe the last official release was Suikoden V on the PlayStation 2 Things may change for the better since Konami trademarked Suikoden Tierkreis in North America for use with “video game software”. Chances are good this will be a new entry in the Suikoden series, but before you get your hopes up remember Square Enix cancelled Chrono Break. Hopefully, Konami will warm PSP/PlayStation 3 owners up to the series by releasing Suikoden on the PlayStation Store. It’s already been rated by the ESRB.

Suwiikoden

You callin' pigs, boy?

That's Sooiekoden

smh at so-called "razorback" fans

Synth won the all Japan hog callin' contest three years running.  And yeah, Wii.

somehow I met this Japanese girl at a party once and razorbacks came up and I started explaining how they were the mascot of a football team in Arkansas and you called them by going "sooooooo-ie!" and she never called me back :/

jojo can confirm that I have an awesome ability to embroil myself in impossible conversations in Japanese way beyond my vocabulary level, like on this last trip I was trying to explain to people what tachyons are and also steampunk - but as an ethos, not an aesthetic

Did you explain to them how a tachyon burst could reverse the polarity of a temporal rift?

that's a bit complicated, I stuck to explaining how you could use a tachyon telephone to send messages back in time

Suikoden VI PSP, lol.

It's not really a rumor, tbqh. This proves Konami is making a new Suikoden game, but the question is what is it (it doesn't have a number tacked on - it could be a spinoff). A portable RPG would be the best I think. If it's for the DS, I hope they revert back to 2D like the PS games.

YES ALL OVER MY FACE, etc.

I'm guessing PSP, but Wii/DS is likely too.

it's going to be on wii.

I honestly doubt that. With the recent comments by SCEA, I really wouldn't be surprised if it was a PSP game.

it's going to be on wii.

Expect to have to collect all 108 cutesy, Mii-esque Stars of Destiny!  Tactical battles to be replaced by "fun" waggle mini-games!  Etc!

Well, the Suikoden series has always had its share of mini-games, adding waggle wouldn't be a dealbreaker. A Wii release would actually be awesome if it means Konami will keep it 2D.

I HOPE it's not 2d. I played 2d Suikoden for the first time like 7 years ago. Why the fuck would I want another 2d one.

2D >>>>> 3D and not to mention the Suikoden 3D looks very low budget.

I don't think 2d rpgs > 3d rpgs. Also, Suikoden 2 is the only Suikoden that DOESN'T look low budget.

If they made Suikoden VI 2d, that would be distinguished mentally-challenged. That aren't going to do it. That would alienate newcomers because most of them are idiots and wouldn't be able to get into a 2d rpg. Suikoden needs newcomers to survive, and people who alienated the series with Suikoden IV.

Suikoden fans think about sales and how the series will survive. Making it 2d would just kill the series. If it's going to be 2d, it'll be 2.5d like Suikoden V.

I'd much rather they be given a reasonable budget and at the very least make it on par with Final Fantasy X.

How are you going to a market a 2d rpg for the Wii in 2008 for an already niche series, who's last game totaled around 300-350k worldwide?
