There's a guy named Tyson GAY in the 100m hahaha get it?
haha he's heading towards the finish...."Gays coming after him!"
-
Dude.
Where have you been?
-
Playin DW Gundam
-
OK, good excuse. I guess.
I'm so glad we get CBC here in the Seattle area. NBC's primetime coverage of the events is terrible. CBC shows everything live and uncut.
-
Tyson Gay is a local, and (ON FOOT) once beat a dude that was in a car from Best Buy on Nicholasville Road to a bar called Two Keys Tavern almost DOWNTOWN. Him and our (U.S.) basketball team are the only two reasons for watching the olympics in the first place for me.
-
Yeah well canadians murder people and chop their heads off. Ill stick to NBC
-
In the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies' best player is Rudy Gay. The Grizzlies just drafted a player called Kevin Love. Sadly, he was traded again on draft day, bringing to an end the Gay-Love era in Memphis.
(totally stolen from Bill Simmons...)

If NBC's Olympic coverage is anything like their hockey coverage, it may be kinder if we chop off yours.

HOW BOUT CANADA SECTION SHUTS UP
-
My cable added two HD channels dedicated to just the Olympics. I mean, wtf.

HOW BOUT CANADA SECTION SHUTS UP
:lol

only interested in the basketball. GOLD OR DEPORTATION FELLAS
but honestly i just want to see China embarrassed as much as possible. there was a good article in Time about their athletes and how robotic they are. please lord let them be owned by freedom
-
lol considering LeBron might sign in Greece, we may not even have to deport them
shitty american dollar
-
meh doubtful. I've never been quite convinced of Bron's heart for the game, but I don't think he's pussy enough to sign with inferior competition. He cares about his legacy. If he signs in Europe for cash he'll be very successful but the lack of an NBA title will smear him foreverrrr
plus we'll be able to say "Darko 1, Bron 0"
-
Yeah it's a bargaining chip but if he ever WAS offerend $50 mil for one year he'd be a fool not to take it.
He'd never finish his career overseas as he knows that would kill any legacy, but to not take that kind of cash would be stupid.
-
James earns over $25 million in endorsements, most of which are geared towards Americans. Wouldn't he be at risk at losing some of those if he played in Europe, where basketball isn't that big of a sport.

Maybe he'd just play in China instead :o
I'd turn down that $50mil considering the danger of losing endorsement monies. No one is buying Josh Childress shoes (afro picks maybe).
-
No one was buying Josh Childress shoes to begin with, don't get ridiculous.
And there are plenty of advertising dollars/yen/falaful (or whatever the greeks use for money) to be had abroad.
When the NBA salary cap only allows of a salary of $20 mil or less, add that to his $25 mil for endorsement deals and it's still shy of $50 mil.
He hasn't even been offered that type of money, it was just something he threw out there. If he got offered the money though, how could he turn it down?

That's the point dude. He had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Bron would lose traction in the long run by signing overseas. Not only in terms of legacy but in terms of money. I'm sure there's plenty of advertising money to be had in Greece...I just doubt there are many Greeks to buy the shit. Which...is the point of advertising.

Yeah, euros can't afford anything and americans are still buying $250 pair of sneakers.
What fantasy world are you living in?
edit: actually shoes probably are still selling, but that's besides the point
If you don't think LeBron at the height of his career playing in the Euro league would get European endorsements I don't know what to tell you. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Anyway, I already pointed out how $50 mil > $20 mil + $25 mil, so any endorsements he did garner would be moot.
Arguing about tarnishing his legacy is also moot, because I completely agree with you. It would change how I feel about him completely even if he was only gone one year.

I think he's saying lebron won't get endorsements in europe because basketball isn't that popular.
But I think if he goes to a league like the Spanish league, he would be huge. Basketball is pretty popular in Spain.
