Go ahead and eat one. Maple bars are so fucking delicious. Just don't google the nutrition information for it later.
Turns out a maple bar is 470 calories, ~60% from fat. That's bad. (This is the kind without jelly/custard filling, for those keeping score. That adds another ~200 calories.) That's roughly a fourth of the average person's caloric intake for a day.
On the other hand, I guess that means you could just eat 4 maple bars over the course of a day to get all the calories you need. That's kind of rad. You ever have those days where you wake up and you're like 'I want to do something destructive to my body today, live life on the edge and feel alive'? I suppose 4 maple bars is better than a pack of cigarettes. It may not be as popular as the stereotypical mid-life crisis where you go buy a motorcycle/sports car, but it's so much more delicious.

A crispy twister, mashed potatoes and potato wedges from kfc are only 900 calories. bad by most standards but decent for fast food.

My boss brings in doughnuts every thursday out of some kind of tradition. I always work from home on thursdays because man even just one is bad news bears. Is there anything in the world that is marketed as food that is as totally unhealthy as a doughnut, ounce for ounce?

Normally I hate the abomination that is Krispy Kreme - more sugar than donut - but if they have the hot light on and I can get a dozen fresh glazed, it's over. I can finish 6-8 of them before they cool down enough for the glaze to 'set'. Goddamn those are fucking delicious.

I love the things when they're fresh, but I'm pretty good at making myself forget that fact and just focusing on the fat/sugar content and how much it'd screw up my diet.
I can't resist when people feed me junk food at the office, though. And they celebrate birthdays here once a month with cake and ice cream. :-\

I have a friend who insists on calling them "dough-butts" every time they come up in conversation. it's a mechanism she uses to keep herself from ever eating them but it's also entirely obnoxious.

Soda, maybe? They're typically loaded with more sugars than even the most sugary doughnuts and have the added advantage of tearing the enamel off your teeth and weakening your bones.

One of my apartment mates in college would go through half of a box of Krispy Kreme's in one night... yes, he was obese, almost 600lb. And he looked almost exactly like Bob in Tekken 6, except with dark brown hair dyed orange... his name was Bob, too.

It's very important that you make some distinctions when talking about KK. Their fresh glazed still hot out of the oven = heaven. All their other donuts, or the glazed AFTER they have cooled = vastly inferior to all other donuts. The amount of sugar they put in their donuts is so high, it's all you can taste. They are like the pixie sticks of donuts.

Ya it was the sugar I had a problem with. Actually I remember the donut and I had it when I was 13; it was that bad. It had a white coding on the top that was so sugar filled it was like hard candy instead of icing. :-X
