Title: Hope for Crackdown 2!

Sandbox action title Crackdown could spawn a sequel, developer Realtime Worlds have revealed, speaking to bloggers VG247.

The future-based crime-fighting game was an Xbox 360 hit, and studio chief Colin Macdonald admits his team regret not moving onto a sequel.

"It was a horrible, horrible decision that we still dwell on," he notes, before adding, hopefully: "But I don’t think the door’s closed. Obviously, right now we’re tied up with APB and everything else, but hopefully in the future we’ll have the resource and something can be worked out with Microsoft."

"We would have loved to have seen it. We poured five years of our lives into that game. You know, we’ve got guys on the development team that have Crackdown tattoos, permanent tattoos on their arms. We’re extremely passionate about it," Macdonald said on the prospect of a second game.

More on Crackdown 2 one day, then.

It would be pretty ballin if they ripped off the new Red Faction's destruction engine and put it in Crackdown 2.

I just need to be able to jump higher. That's all I want.

I've seen rumors that they're trying to ship APB through Rockstar as GTA Online. Man, GTA online - not sure how excited I'd be about that after playing so much deathmatch and racing in GTA4.

Crackdown 2 on the other hand, would be very exciting. I'll take Crackdown's full game in 2-player co-op over GTA4's 16 player with all gameplay removed ANYDAY.

That would be amazing.  I don't see it happening, but it would be awesome.

The one big thing I want is a retractable glider type thing that you can use.  It would be awesome to jump off a building and just glide around the city.

Yet another game that has more interesting platforming/shooting components than Uncharted, and did it before that.

Don't, you'll just make yourself look like an ignorant twit. Crackdown had a moveset with all the finess of juiced up 2d Mario. It worked beautifully, but it was nothing interesting about it. And the shooting and overall combat had all the complexity of a kefir shit. Fun, but in the absolutely most primal, Serious Sam sense.

As for Crackdown 2, they'd have to fix some major issues. Get gangs in that level up with the character, even if that means giving them super-human powers. Bosses, the game needs bosses, and not just the type with extra armor and health. There are other things, but those are pretty critical.

What is it with people insulting me then telling me how games I played through worked today? Your reasonable tone in the other thread seems to have vanished utterly.  :'(

What I enjoyed in Crackdown was the huge freedom to traverse the environment you'd normally only get in a platformer, but in an open world game. More freedom and interactivity than you get in Uncharted for damn sure. I personally found it way more compelling a platformer than Uncharted, and a more fun shooter too (although that was definitely Crackdown's Achille's Heel...i just can't stand the RE4 shooting mechanics in Uncharted).

Saints Row 2 baby

Dude. I'm ALL ABOUT Saints Row 2. I'm partially convinced that I had more fun playing SR1 than GTA4, so all they gotta do is bump the rez, add some granularity, maybe even steal GTA4's missing R3 missions from the Giant Armoire of Common Sense Game Design, and let me get back to sandbox gameplay rather than feeding me a movie about how hard it is to be an immigrant.

Crackdown 2 though also fills me with hope. The achievements alone in that game show how much the devs poured themselves into the game.

They didn't mention one of your Agent Upgrades was a cerebral cortex bomb.

But, yeah, that nyar-nyar-nyar ending was pretty weak sauce. Not like anyone was playing Crackdown for the story, though.

I dont know why people want another crackdown, it was boring shit. No story, no missions, all you could do was run around and do nothing. Lame.

I'd imagine quite a few are hoping for a sequel to remedy the issues in the original game.

Scaling buildings and launching rockets at guys from a thousand feet in the air qualifies as "nothing" these days? SMH
