I never imagined that the fan would be this big. More pics here (http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=3197083#M3197083).

It makes sense since the PS3 is more quiet than a 360. The bigger the fan, the more quiet it is when moving the same amount of air.

Also they don't need to spin as fast to blow air out...I think. I don't remember anymore.

Zero, as a PS3 fanboy you really need to get with the times. Here are my favourite comparison pics:

:lol Oh, Microsoft.

I have no clue what the hell I'm looking at there.

If you mean my pics - PS3 cooling system, followed by 360 cooling system. The length of copper tubing is a good measure of the relative effort that went into engineering the two consoles.
Also consider that 360's didn't even include most of that copper tubing until late last year.
C'mon Zero, I'm doing your job here.

Oh, now I get it. That makes it kind of funny.

I thought the propellers of a small helicopter that cool the PS3 was good enough. :'(
Look at the size of the heatsink!!!

there was a video way back in 2006, where a group of japanese people opened up the PS3, saw the huge ass fan, and everyone started gasping and laughing
pretty funny
