I have an ipod that works but it doesnt match in any way and looks kinda ghetto. A nice sleek black 2nd gen zune will be great. The voice to artist/album/on-the-go playlist is VERY nice, and its not like one of those naturally speaking programs where you have to repeat yourself often or yell. Im still trying to get my phone to work but I always try to do it without the instructions so I cant figure out how to bond the phone to the Sync system. Maybe that will be a tomorrow project.

cool upgrades on the way awesome!

aside from that, how are you enjoying the car?
i am envious.
-
Cars with these type of technologies are awesome. It sucks riding in a pre 2k whip, with my ghetto tape deck line to iPod Nano.
MAF rollin' with the next gen.

EricP:
Its super cool. I went from an LX 2000 Focus to an SES 2008 Focus so i'm clearly more excited about somewhat standard features these days. The car is a lot of fun to drive, very responsive. I think the only thing I miss, and this has more to do with the new car being automatic, is that I cant super charge through corners anymore. I've never driven an automatic with low gear tho, can that be used to be awesome in anyway or is it just for traction on icy roads?
I also like how despite the 8 year difference, the new car 'fit like a glove'. Driving it from day one didnt feel alien at all. Plus the 2008 models actually LOOK like the 2000-2004 focuses.

Yeah I was planning on keeping my ghetto car for a bit longer, but the GODS SAID NO.

not really. I totally burned up my taurus playing with the 1 and 2 gears when i first got my first car because no one told me specifically what they were for.
whoops

Haha, ok, ill uhh not ever use it then.

Looks like you wont have to get a Ford to get this eventually:
Indeed, about the only apparent cloud on the horizon for Sync is, although co-branding with Microsoft has been one of the most arresting aspects of Ford’s marketing of the device, November brings the expiration of Ford’s exclusive deal for the technology underlying the system. At that point Microsoft is free to work with other OEMs, which are likely to try to catch up quickly and deploy their own Sync-like systems.

it's more for like conditions where you'd need more traction like ice or hills and the like
-
Not for situations when I need more AWESOME? *sigh*
The car makes some pretty satisfying sounds when accelerating quickly at least lol.
-
Would be cool if Microsoft made a product that acts like an aftermarket equalizer or radio in the sense that you can install it in any car you want (to the speaker system). Mainly for the ability to turn even a crap box into a car that can sync with cellphones and MP3 players. I would totally buy that.

The upcoming Sync 911 feature should be in EVERY car imo
-
Blue: You may want to look into this as an alternative;
For one thing, a handful of aftermarket systems already do nearly everything Sync does. Parrot Inc. has a system priced at $299, plus installation costs, that offers all the functions of Sync except voice-activated text messaging, said Mike Hedge, vice president of marketing for the Southfield, Mich.,–based company. Such devices could catch on much as portable GPS-based navigation systems have proven a hugely popular alternative to automakers’ built-in nav devices, he said.
-
:o
I'll definitely look into that. I could live without the text messaging.
-
The text messaging is mostly funny cause SYNC will pronounce LOL I guess
-
MAF show us pix of your set-up. I especially wanna see the cabin amenities etc...

Is it like OnStar?
-
I have a 2007 Ford F 150. Can I get Sync put in as an aftermarket product? it sounds cool. i want it.
-
I checkd out the new Focus-s on Fords site. I presume you got the sedan?
It looks cool. Does it have a slot for the zune or does it hook up via USB like the ipod pictured?
-
hey abrader, come stick your tongue in my mouth.
-
Hooks up via usb, but there's a little spot under the deck for an mp3 player. I have the ultra audio super package with the 6 cd changer, satellite radio, sync, and the factory installed speakers + subwoofer. Its a pretty nice system.
-
Nice. I didn't even know that the Zune has such awesome features for automobiles.
Maf, you're gonna love the Zune. I got my red 80gb Zune last week and I totally regret not getting one much earlier.
My only complaint is with the control pad but it's not a big deal. For just music purposes, I think the Zune is better than even an IPOD touch (which I had borrowed for a few days from a cousin).
Zune + subscription pass + Shure headphones= music heaven!
-
I had a first gen zune, the unit was fine but the store back then was ugh
-
What kind of car is it?
Edit: I JUST LEARNED TO READ! PRAISE THE LORD

Its a very nice car :)

All this SYNC and GPS and shit ruins cars and travelling.
True story: one consumer had trouble getting to my work place, because we don't show up on GPS systems. When we said "you'll just have to use the old way to get to us" she said "Whats the old way?"
::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Yea I wish we could go back to taking our eyes off the road to fumble with tapes
-
How does Sync ruin cars? The phone stuff makes cars safer and the music stuff also probably makes cars safer.
