I gots me a new laptop and the graphics card is a Geforce Go 7400. How good is that? How does it compare to say, the current gen. consoles?
-
It's about equivalent to the PS3 RSX Budget GPU (tm).

C.Mid-range Video Cards :HVROLE:
Mid-range video cards have enough power to play the latest games at comfortable and enjoyable settings. You won't be able to push the settings to maximum, but overall are well-rounded cards. They do not produce a lot of heat nor require a lot of power, and can be found in notebooks from 12” to 17”.
From lowest to highest performance:
Quote:
Nvidia GeForce Go6400
ATI Mobility Radeon X600
Nvidia GeForce Go7400
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
ATI Mobility Radeon X1450
Nvidia GeForce 8400M-GS/Nvidia GeForce 9300M-GS
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450/3470
The Radeon HD 3450 is the newest card here, and the fastest in this category.

I got this laptop for free, tho. :/
.
Hmm, interesting. Thanks.

It'll probably play games that are 2 and 3 years old okay at medium settings, but games from 2007-2008 are going to chug unless you turn just about everything down.
