I was surprised that the graphics weren't "sharper", but it looks great and I love the FEEL. I can't wait until it gets chilly outside and I can grab a blanket and just sit down with this game.

Ahahaha. I almost added to the end of my post "And fuck it".

great minds think alike :)
-
It has some aliasing and muddy textures issues.
I wasn't that impressed with the HD video, artistically it owns though.
-
Just watched it. I'd jack off on it totally.
-
What do you mean Sharper?
i notcied the video seemed a little too bright.
Just some last-genny jaggies and yuck-o textures. But then some of it looked beautiful and it seemed kind of incongruous. The hero and the dog looked weird, no?

The music :omg

That vid pretty much sealed Too Human's fate for me. I'm skipping it so I can finish up a couple other games and replay Fable. I have the Lost Chapters version, so there's a few new things I'll be able to see.
Anyone know if F2 is still going to be completely open like Oblivion? Having to stay on the trails was a big disappointment in F1.
-
:bow indeed
Dark fairy tale with a humorous bent > engineered dorkster fantasy crap.

completely open. you can hop over fences and whatnot even.

I hope the story receives a larger emphasis this time around.

PC version early 2009.
Or I get a 360.
Never played the PC version of Fable? Fucking thing crashes on me all the time, about every hour or so. Piece of shit.
-

That's the one thing that I'm still unsure about. I was never bothered by the "broken promises" in Fable; if anything, I thought the straightforwardness of the RPG system worked well and kept the focus on the immediate gameplay, which I prefer. This time around, it sounds like they are really pushing those abandoned features, and I'm hoping they have also had time and resources to work on the story. Not that the story in Fable was bad, there just wasn't enough of it.

Not quite; it is still like Fable 1 where there are long load times between sections, but this time the sections of land are much larger than before.
Fable 2 looks amazing, but my only problem with it is that it is coming out the same day as LittleBigPlanet and Dead Space, and I fault those two for coming out on that day also. I don't have time to play all this quality at once.

Apparently there are 0 cut scenes in Fable 2, and since the main character doesn't speak, i'm gonna guess that the story will be even worse this time around.

Looks like you get extra stuff with the Limited Edition disc:
Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) – Includes “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon, “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus
I wonder if its on the disk or it gives you a code to download them.

Keyword is "requires LIVE account" - it's downloadable

This. Wallet am cry. :'(

Funny how Fable 2 of all games, is getting sfags to buy 360s.
Fable 1 was one of the prime reasons why I got an Xbox1.

I loved Fable on the PC. It's actually the 8 person party system that sold me on a 360.

Ouch, I hadn't put this together. I want all these games :-\

Yeah...didn't think about that.
-
there wasn't much of anything i liked in fable 1. fable 2 looks like it has made a lot of changes... but some of them i wouldn't necessarily call improvements (such as the combat) based on what i've seen.
for all this excitement over fable 2, it's as if you guys actually liked fable 1.
-

But then you've always had real shit taste in games, so hey.

Fable 1 was great.
-
even if you ignored all the hype and promises by peter, fable 1 ended up being a very mediocre action RPG. the combat was awful and the whole 'choices' thing was too binary for me to have any interest in it. the game was bleh.
-
The game was great for fucking around and really feeling like some sort of God.
-
The game was on the Xbox, we get it dfyb.
-
Fable was a pretty cool game as long as you didn't get wrapped up in the hype--people should have known better after the clusterfuck that was Black and White. For the same reason I didn't read hype on Fable, I've skipped most of it (sans actual media) for the sequel. I'm fairly sure I will dig the game.
-
Yeah, I didn't follow the Fable 1 hype much, and I wasn't let down in anyway; Fable matched, or even exceeded, what I thought it was going to be. And I do hope that Fable 2 brings back the fight club.
-
Yes. The fight club rocked. I also loved getting women drunk and hitting on them. It was so awesome the first time I played it.
-
Man, I kinda want to play Fable now. Is the version on XBL the Lost Chapters version? I never did that one.
-
Just get the PC version...
-
Oh yeah, Fable definitely came up short as far as its promises went, but mechanically it was very solid, not to mention looked and sounded nice... that's enough to make it the best RPG style game on the Xbox.
-
The one thing about Fable 2 that I am worried about is the combat. I enjoyed the combat in Fable 1, but now they are doing this whole 'one button combat' thing with Fable 2. I just hope the combat isn't too simple and boring.
And I just remembered when people were hyping up Sudeki for the Xbox. Oh, how times have changed for RPG on the Xbox platform.
-
I thought everyone hated Fable ???
Dunno about hate, but I believe there was a lot of disappointment (with it being too short I guess), which wasn't really helped with Peter Molyneux's pie in the sky promises.
-
Ugh...don't remind me. I actually played through Sudeki.
Fable 1 had a lot of backlash because of the promises that weren't delivered. I didn't really care too much because it did enough other things well it was easy to overlook what wasn't in there.
Also, I'm convinced the people who complained that it was too short rushed through it just so they could say it was too short and complain about Molyneax's failure to deliver. I personally spent about 35 hours in the game.
-
Well, you didn't need to rush through it for it to seem short. I had everything I wanted at basically max level, did everything the game would let me except the stuff like getting married and such, and finished it in probably less than 10 hours. That's sort of short for an RPG, but I wouldn't have minded that if it wasn't so obvious that so many scenarios had been cut from the game. It's one thing to deliver a short game that was designed to be a short game, but it's typically very easy to tell when something has been cut due to, presumably, publisher pressure to get the game out.
-
what are you talking about, 10 hours is COOL
it worked for mass effect apparently
-
I hated Fable 1, but I'll give the second one a fair chance.
-
I stretched Fable out as much as possible because I loved it and I think I clocked in around 26-27 hours. Wish it would have been longer, but now Fable 2 looks to rectify that.
Ugh...don't remind me. I actually played through Sudeki.
I played Sudeki a couple of years after it came out and adored it. Such a shame it was short. :(
Once I ignored internet backlash against Fable and Sudeki, it turned out both games were great when taken for what they are rather than what they aren't.

Game looks absolutely amazing. That foliage is probably the best I've ever seen on a console.
From what I understand, this is a true open ended RPG, like the Elders Scrolls games. What I was most disappointed with in Fable 1 was the closed off aspect of it, and if this has truly been fixed, then I can see this being the best game of the holiday season.

Don't worry about DFYB. A game doesn't look good to him unless it's powered by the Cell.

i don't want to bring other games into an argument. they look nice and have a cool style to them, but i think 'amazing' or 'best foliage on consoles' is stretching it.
-
It looks good enough, and is more stylish than anything else. The main distraction right now seems to be the rather brutal pop-in, but whatever. I'm not expecting anything that even approaches technological perfection from this, and that's fine.

Can you get the Sony cock out your mouth for just one post? I hope they are really paying you but then again, if you are really good at something, you don't do it for free.

i played it on PC. oblivion was better in just about every way. and even oblivion's combat was god awful.

They toned down the bloom, so I am happy with the visuals.

I agree, the foliage looks awesome, and is probably the best we've seen this generation.

I just don't get it. I easily spent 3 or 4 hours just messing around before the first village was burned.

Oblivion was also your common uninspired, dorkster fantasy Americana with all the credibility of a renaissance festival invaded by Live fantasy roleplaying dorks. It also packed some of the lamest and most awkward combat seen this generation. But hey, it had Unicorns! Fable, in contrast, succeeded in the most important aspect, which was delivering a world that felt like something ripped straight from the pages of old folklore and fairy tales, and seemed designed as opposed to engineered.

Oblivion was a poor showing for the Elder Scrolls series. Morrowind is like, 14 Billion times better.
-
Loved Oblivion, I dont get the hate. One of my favorite games of all-time

if oblivion's world was that of uninspired renaissance festival dorks, fable's is the saturday morning cartoon adaptation of uninspired renaissance festival dorks. neither were worth a damn.
but hey, at least oblivion had the assassin guild quest line. that was the only part of oblivion really worth playing and it was better than the whole of fable.

I liked Oblivion as well, but I still think it was a poor follow up to Morrowind.
I should also add that I needed to put in many, many mods in order to make Oblivion more playable.

Booted up Fable 1 on my 360...runs like ass. Thinking about busting out the old Xbox to play it on instead.

I think what nano means is that the foliage actually seems to be spread out pretty realistically. It doesn't look like they just use some tool to randomly scatter leaves and bushes like every other game that has a lot of foliage. The different flower species are in rows together next to gravestones and doors and the trees are put in logical places rather than just packed together to be walls so that the player doesn't get lost. This is the only game really where the plants are in any way interesting.
