I remember when they were first showcasing the game, especially the part at Chaps Gas Station, Cliffy was saying crap like that the environment was going to be extremely destructible and even talked about shooting pieces of buildings off to use it as cover or some shit. What happened to that? Because, shit, the destructibility is what is truly lacking from this game.
Decent framerate? Check
Awesome Graphics? Check
Awesome sound? Check
Destructability? Uhh, we have bottles and stuff on the ground and we leave wolfensteinesque burn marks in the walls when you shoot shit!
WTF?
-
Maybe only the cover parts are destructible?
-
I MEAN EVEN THE LOST PLANET DEMO HAD DESTRUCTIBLE COVER AMIRITE GUYS? -MAF MISQUOTE
-
Anyway there are destructible couches, propane tanks and wooden cabinets thats about it.

Yeah, I noticed that. But when they were first showcasing the game, they were talking about all sorts of destructability. I understand features get cut and I still think the game is fucking magnificent. But I'm just astonished how it was suddenly dropped and not brought up.

No but seriously, lost planet > gears of war
-
I still haven't played my copy of Viva Pinata :(
-
lololol I need to get back to muh children of mana tomorrow, SO MANY GAMES!
-
No but seriously, lost planet > gears of war
after completing the demo I almost agree with you.
-
Lost Planet really does look fucking awesome.
-
plays awesome too, the multiplayer will make me go OMG. I mean all the weapons, mechs, destructable environs. How can it be beat omg omg
-
I need an Xbox 360, and not a shitty Core one that I'll get for $100 if somehow I get lucky and get one of those 1000 that go on sale on Amazon on Thursday.

Too easy. Only challenge is in not getting hurt when shooting barrels. And the bugs suck in the demo. I liked the mech vs. mech fight though.
-
I like easy! I got shit to finish!

Well if it had some better story (no idea what it's about) maybe it'd be more worth replaying?

Gears of War lost its visual appeal awfully quickly. Lost Planet still has a sense of awe for me.
I think its the blurry post filtering their using. It masks a lot of the mediocre textures or something. Or maybe the texture aren't mediocre and its the fact that the AA makes the overall visual quality just drop. It could be the artstyle?
I DO like the Gameplay. The Paint Ball/Kill.Switch gameplay style is just fun for me.
But yeah, visually Lost Planet > Gears of War

I think a lot of the jaw dropping moments with Lost Planet have to do with how much is going on. Some of that shit is amazing when you have 20 guys shooting at you and huge clouds of smoke and walls blowing up. Everyone I've shown it to has been wowed when they actually see a rocket destroy the wall I'm hiding behind.

Multiplayer Demo this week arond Thanksgiving!

demi: OMG OMG OMG OMG
amnintenho: as I stated, too many games to play

I think lack of environmental discussion was the first thing I found disappointing about Gears of War. It's not "HD Gaming" If I can't bust shit up visibly.
-
Well, it's not even that. Okay, no destructible environments, I can handle that I guess. But holy shit, they take a step back. The "bullet holes" in the walls is fucking pathetic. They don't even do the parallax mapping thing, like in Fear. And like Viz said, there's a total of like 3 destructible items in the whole game! WTF?
-
Just seeing that disappointing orbital beam weapon in videos kept me from wanting the game.
-
HUH?
Its awesome.
-
I saw the video and saw it was small and clipping through objects instead of destroying them. Am total first disappointment of the videos.
-
yeah it can blow up some things, but I see what you mean. Its still awesome in multi.

What's wrong with a core for 100 bucks?
Add a HDD and you're still 200 bucks less than a premium...throw in a wireless controller and component cables and you're still 120 to the good and you've got a spare controller.
-
How easy is it to add a HDD? I was thinking of just putting the system up on eBay if I got one.
