Holy crap, this is pretty much the best and worst one can hope for from zombie fiction. In a zombie movie things are at least over, for better or worse, at the end of the ninety minutes. Kirkman's ongoing zombie fiction potentially means no-one is safe, everyone is at risk, and you can never know when it's going to end. I can't believe where he took this with the big wrap up at the prison.
I read this latest collected volume on the plane back from vacation, and was stunned at how completely transported I was to that dystopian landscape. I was surprised to look up and still find myself on a plane, surrounded by breathing humans. spoiler (click to show/hide)
It's stunning that the whole gang may be wiped out, and even more frightening to think what must be happening to the father and son. For a long while I'd assumed that the boy might die, and honestly I thought the baby might not make it, but I'd always assumed they'd leave his harping wife hanging off from him forever. It also looked like the Tom Savini stand-in governor was going to get ANOTHER reprieve... thank god for small favors.
His intent becomes very clear when you realize that The Walking Dead
