I have a boner right now.

Just please fix the controls, or learn how to make controls work on the PSP from Bend.

I didn't notice Macross on PS3! amazing.

I feel slightly better about owning a PSP now. Hopefully the controls aren't totally shitty like PO's were. I didn't even finish PO because of them, they should have just ported it to the PS2 at super budget price.

So it's fake? Well, whatever. I guess it's time to sell my PSP. I sort of wanted Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia, but Birth By Sleep will probably be ported to the PS2 anyway.

Dang, I thought there was a gaf thread I didn't notice.  Thanks anyway.

And Portable Ops isn't bad outside of the major control issues.  I really dug the army building mechanic they had, but as I said, the controls were terrible for the PSP.  Learn from Bend, and learn to have controls that make sense on the PSP.

i adapted to the controls and loved the soldier collection aspect of it.  sure the controls could have benefited from a second stick, but that doesnt' stop portable ops from being one of the best 3D action handheld games.  you could throw the "wah wah wah no second analog stick" tantrum over just about any 3D game on PSP (and it's not like DS has a better alternative), so there's not really a point in repeating it  ::).  it really wasn't too hard to adapt -- i had no problem beating and enjoying the game.

Can't beat the adapt defense.

it'd be one thing if it was on console, but it's on handhelds.  different standards.  different benefits/sacrifices.  bashing a handheld game for not controlling like a console game is like bashing a console game because you can't play it on the train or bus.  it's utterly distinguished mentally-challenged.

So, was Macross PS3 a big fat lie?

I'm so sorry mantra. :(

As for what's going on... Himuro is talking about a scan which only had a list of games for all systems, and on the DS list they had Suikoden. There's a spread in this issue about the game. Probably the reason all of those links in the old 2ch link are broken is because it's an old thread (therefore old, dysfunctional links), they've all migrated to here now:

http://namidame.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/ghard/1219210819/

There's supposedly information about Suikoden DS in that thread (3D characters, 2D backgrounds, normal RPG [no cards/tactics/etc]). It might be fake though, and I wouldn't like to have cuntroll laugh in my face again tbqh.

SUIKODEN BROTHERS. CELEBRATE!!!

Quote
Characters are 3D polygons
Field backgrounds are 2D
Battles are entirely 3D
Character portraits (bust up) in conversation scenes
There is a field map
Parties of 4 "+α" with faces and stats on the top screen
Looks like an orthodox RPG
50% complete
Animated intro
There are combination attacks and support party members
"Battles are fast-paced"—you tap icons on the side of the touch screen
It seems to be a real game with 108 characters, although the headline is "The Chosen 108 heroes have been destroyed?!" So maybe there's something funky going on? But it also talks of 108 stories, so... I dunno!

Characters

The main character has no name, but apparently will be voiced by Takashi Hiroshi. It is unknown if this will just be in 'grunts' a la Lazlo and Freyjadour in Suikoden IV and V or like Kyril in Suikoden Tactics.

A shark race may be introduced into the series if one of the images has been interpreted correctly. All together now; grrrroan!

Gameplay

The gameplay takes advantage of the Nintendo DS's touch screen. The top screen shows character status information. HP, MP, status effects and the like. Meanwhile, you can use the DS stylus to enter commands in battle on the touch screen.

Other observations include: The battle system appears to be a four person battle system, like Suikoden IV. As such, it is a traditional RPG, not a strategy RPG like Suikoden Tactics.

Looking at the status screen it appears traditional Suikoden MP is OUT, to be replaced with standard MP numbers comparable to HP. Like in Final Fantasy VII, for example (and 90% of every RPG ever).

The character art and designs in general don't look nearly up to series standards but I don't really mind because they're not bad either. Still a drastic change in quality. I can tell they've hired a new character designer.

On the other hand...the backgrounds are gorgeous. Holy crap.

Apparently the game begins with the 108 heroes engaged in their final battle with the villain, and all the heroes being taken down except for four. This game's hero is not one of them, and his quest involves reassembling the 108, as opposed to discovering them.

Don't you need to be white to be a weeaboo? I am pretty sure Duckroll is Asian. Well, I always picture him as a tiny hyperactive Asian kid regardless.

Nice, well I haven't seen the scans yet... I'm just a staunch 2D gaming fanboy. Still it's good that there's another Suikoden coming. I only played and beat 2 for the first time a few months ago and I was extremely impressed.

The PS2 games have had budget re-releases in Japan if you're curious. They're fun, but if you don't know some Japanese, there is this tutorial at the beginning of KB1 that could be a total game breaker.  :lol
