Holy Fucking shit, they remade a part of Paris with the editor.
-
that is pretty impressive

Hi-Def version: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38618.html?type=
It reminds me a lot of Battlefield 1942's editor.
-
holy.shit
definitely a must buy now
-
looks good i just wonder how big (in file size) the maps can be. in farcry instincts it was under 50mb iirc. which didn't take long to d/l when connecting to another user on xbl.
-
:lol Nice to see them mentioning tree shooting again.
Oh, and this looks utterly, utterly awesome. I cannot wait for this game.
Edit: WTF at the end - that's amazing. :hyper
-
Can't wait for the PC version.
-
guess you guys never used the far cry 1 map editor. this is a lot like that, with a few improvements. nice to see the editor coming to consoles. still not sold on far cry 2 though -- this map editor will be fun if the game ends up being good though.
i haven't messed with it, but i think crysis has a very similar map editor too
-
Oh wow!! :o
-
Yeah, Far Cry 2 looks great and all, but considering it comes out around when better looking games come out, this might be something I pick up later down the road at a reduced price.

If you can make the Eiffel Tower in Far Cry 1's map editor, I'd be very impressed.

uuuuhhhhh... the tower shown is just one of the "2000" objects in the editor. you just manipulate the terrain and place pre-built buildings etc. i'd imagine you could just import a custom eiffel tower model into the far cry 1 editor (edit: on PC).
the battlefield/far cry style editor is more intuitive, but you sacrifice flexibility (unless you import your own 3D models you build outside the editor). in the Hammer editor (Source engine), you can create anything you have the patience to sculpt, though the more complex (or interactive) objects are better to import into hammer.

I'm on the 360, not a PC.
Until another game comes along on the 360 that has a map editor in which you can put the Eiffel Tower, Far Cry 2 is the most awesome thing ever.
-
OH MY FUCKING GOD.
I spent hours with the original Far Cry Instincts editor, this looks IIIIIINNSSSSSSAAAAANNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
i was referring to the far cry 1 editor on PC. not instinct's editor - i never touched a console far cry.
-
So you'd say this looks alot better?
This is so much more amazing than the Far Cry 1 editor, you'd have to be distinguished mentally-challenged to compare the two.
-
I never tried the Far Cry PC editor, but this is very comparable to the Instincts one.
-
Another thing worth mentioning is that this seems to be easy to use. That is something that can absolutely not be said about the Sandbox editor.

i just found a very similar video to the OP, but for instinct's editor, and yeah... it's very similar.

improved how smoothly/quickly you can edit terrain. day/night sliders instead of a few set options. more objects to place. improvements that you'd expect from a generation leap in games. even Hammer saw nice feature updates when it went from HL1 engine to source.
this style of editor is better for games that rely more on large, natural environments. but they are severely limited when it comes to more urban and indoor environments. that paris recreation really isn't too impressive -- it's just pre-built buildings that they placed. you can't do anything as far as custom textures (other than the ground texture) or creating your own buildings and props without the help of external software on PC (only applicable to the PC version).
