I think Black might look better than this.

Looks like a DS game with more geometry in that the textures still look kind of unfiltered. I don't really get that look. It's like there is no perspective correction.

looks terrible but gameplay looked barely serviceable. A solid 2/5

IGN's proprietary video stretching software does some really amazing work.
Gameplay looks okay at least, but I'm still waiting for the reviews.

I think it has more to do with how it's obviously an inexplicably low-res video blown up to twice its size in a streaming FLV.

I will admit that the HD videos back at E3 made it seem decently good, but I am still perplexed by how this game won awards for technology and all that stuff, or even why people are looking forward to it. Is it just because it is a decent looking game on the Wii hardware? I mean, it doesn't even look as good as games like Black, Riddick, Doom 3, or tons of other games from last gen.

Keep in mind, of course, that last generation, many of the same people were very optimistic about Geist. At this point, in the midst of various games of the Gamez type, I'd assume that any game with a shooter bent would get some attention.
What I don't get is why there isn't a dedicated multiplayer shooter on the system. That'd seem like a good fit for the system. Is it the online gaming system that stops that from happening?

yeah its all that friend code bullshit, doesnt let you play with anyone you dont knpw, kinda screws shooters

Well it DOES let you play with people you don't know, it just doesn't let you talk to them. :-\

Geist got attention because there was Nintendo involvement at some level and the possession aspect, which was the best part of a shooter that showed a few very brief flashes of greatness but was ultimately smothered by a slow pace, awkward shooting mechanics, uninteresting characters and story, and a generally uninspired art direction.
Conduit actually looks like it has good shooting mechanics, which would certainly be a step up.
Edit: Okay, just for lulz I went to GameRankings and found that Geist got a 69% average, while Haze only had 57%. :lol

IGN Best Technology?
Really?
There's some neat little things going on. If the art weren't so horrifyingly bad it'd probably look nice.

Again, Really?
SMG looks twice as good as this.
SMG wasn't at E3.
