this game is not going to work on xbl. not because of controls, but because of the level of teamwork that is required.

Ugh, do you play with random people or something? Wtf.
This game is meant to be played with people you know obviously. Anyway, the dude that was playing, and kept changing the weapon for no reason, it made me remind how people play counter strike. It's infuriating. Stop changing the fucking weapon asshole.

I love to do that. Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q Q. It's cathartic.

I like how Gabe gets increasingly frustrated trying to tell the dude who's playing to hit "plus use" to pick up weapons and items and use the machine gun, and you can see the guy messing up and opening up the chat box over and over again :lol
-
wtf are you wtfing about? of course i play with randoms sometimes.
and, no, you shouldn't have to only play with people you know. just play with randoms that listen and communicate effectively.
problem is, finding such randoms on xbl is a pain.

Watching this footage brings back such fond memories of Sven Co-op, except a lot better looking.

it's always been a day one game for me ever since i played it at qcon. i don't really need to see more videos.
edit: ended up watching both anyway :lol
-
oh and one feature of this game that i see consistently getting overlooked is the context driven voice. similar to FEAR multiplayer (moreso in the beta), your character will automatically say things. in one of the vids here, you hear the old man point out the pipe bomb to everyone else -- it happens in other situations, too. really helps coordination even though you have regular voice chat, too. more multiplayer games need to incorporate it (and just have a 'disable' option for the fegs who will make up excuses for why it sucks).

man i hate horror games :(
i can never stand them. same with scary movies. have to pass it up.

You need some friends to play with.
Anyhow, about the game, I don't want it, but if it has Southpaw control I'd buy it, I need a teamwork FPS.
-
im left handed and southpaw controls still make no sense to me

I saw a friend of mine doing that the other day, i wanted to bash his head against the monitor.

Yeah, I don't understand how southpaw controls make any sense to anyone, that is unless it is the first and only game you have played. You almost always control character movement with your left hand/thumb, so movement on the right stick is just weird.

it's barely a horror game... it's just a lot of zombies that rush you

having three friends online that will play l4d when i want is not always going to be an option. sometimes you gotta role with randoms.
i predict, because of the nature of this game, that it will have a small console community. hopefully it'll be better then tf2 at the very least.

the fuck is all this controller/console talk doing in a L4D thread?

Gameplay looks fun but visually, it seems to be a step back from HL:EP2. Valve also needs to get some art new assets ASAP.
The game resembles a mod for the original HL2 more than a 2008 standalone game.
-
looks awesome I'll probably buy 2 copies. 1 for 360 and 1 for pc.

On the upside, at least it's proven technology and should run well for just about anyone. Not that you and your borderline super-computer could give a shit about that, but the mortals might.
