Save that money, and with another $100 or so, you'll be able to buy this year's hot Christmas item: The Nintendo Wii!

It feels so liberating to get the fucking waggle box out of your house.  My kids asked what happened to the Wii exactly one time.  I replaced the Wii in their bedroom with a 360 (for being able to watch movies too) and they never looked back.

Good job.

I sold mine off in January for 300 bucks and haven't looked back.

Wii success is good for true gamers.  Allows us to resell a year old+ console for a profit!

Me neither, but the Wii is definitely the worst console I've ever owned.

If I was the kind of person who sold consoles, my Wii would have been gone six months ago. If MadWorld wasn't a Wii exclusive, I'm sure the thing would eternally collect dust.

And worst of all, it seems that Wario Land Shake isn't that great. What a bummer. :\

Man, I can't wait to sell mine. I'm just waiting for the holiday rush to maximize profit or minimize loss. I'm counting on Nintendo to get the gimmick train rolling around then with Wii Music or something.

Of course, the only part I'm not looking forward to about selling it is that I'll actually have to make up some good things to say about it (which'll be more difficult than a perfect play-through of MGS4) so that someone will actually buy it before realizing his or her mistake.

It's not that I hate videogames, I just hate the Wii, and I'm never buying another Nintendo product ever again because I've never felt so ripped off by a company before.

With LittleBigPlanet around the corner, I am pretty sure that I will be immune to any and all bouts of nostalgia whenever a new Super Mario game is announced. I'll just remember that LBP is next-gen and infinitely replayable, and any Super Mario game in the future will be gimped because of the gimped system it runs on.

Also, they turned the Zelda franchise into one that is about herding sheep, jumping horses over whatever the fuck those fence things are called, and retrieving runaway cats... all in the first five minutes of a game. I'd rather just play Harvest Moon on the PS2.

Also, I love this forum. I thought I was the only one who thought the Wii is a piece of shit.

I can't ever sell my Wii, or any console, no matter how little I may play it.  Although, I have been playing my Wii since yesterday; going back to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat now that I brought my Bongo controller from my old house and dusted them off.  This game is awesome.

You mean he can just keep the cheaper easier to find Gamecube that has a lot of games and is more enjoyable instead of the Wii which is the polar opposite, while keeping his money? I never really thought of it that way. Thanks for the insight.

My Wii got kicked out the door a while back. I haven't missed it yet in the slightest, and there's nothing on the horizon making me regret that decision so far. And believe me, I am easily excited.
Title: Re: the wii is gone!
Post by: Tundra on August 24, 2008, 01:28:29 PM
Seems i am in the minority here... I liked the Wii so far, and i am even a big fan of the Wiimote and Nunchuck control, but it seems i have all the big titles i wanted to play (SMG, Zelda, Metroid, and a few others) finished by now, and there are absolutely zero interesting games on the horizon. Nothing to look forward to, just vague promises.
I mean with the notable exception of MadWorld, but i am not sure this is even my type of game, and i don't want to fall into the distinguished mentally-challenged Wii owners trap of buying things, because it's better than nothing ("Yeah, Conduit may look like shit, but at least someone is trying")...

edit: Plus it may be refreshing to be able to play something, that is not made by Nintendo/Miyamoto...

And when i go to the local gameshops, and see all of these petz and dogs and babiez games i am cry.

So, i will sell the Wii soon, and get either a PS3 or 360...Even on the PS3 i counted 15 and more games i am interested about (Multiconsole games included)...

The solution is simple.

1. Buy a Wii
2. Rent Super Mario Galaxy and complete it
3. Sell your Wii (preferably during the Christmas season when a lot of people want it)
4. ???
5. Profit

Did that $262 include all the games or just the system.

I think I got screwed the most, I sold the system for $235.

Selling the Wii is the best idea anyone with two or more functional brain cells can do right now.  It is one of the few rare moments where you can play though what is going to be the best of its library (it won't get any better on the Wii than Super Mario Galaxy) and then sell it at a minor loss or a profit.  If you're that desperate to play Wario Land Wii or Twilight Princess 2, you can just buy it for $10 sealed when you get the Wiii, or on an emulator.

I don't know how many good Wii games there are.  I can think of 4 or 5 that will hold up after six months of release.  Most of the "OMG Wii has a ton of good games" are the DS fanboys that thought C-Grade games like Hotel Dusk are considered classics.  In other words, if it is remotely playable, it is now considered awesome.  I don't care to spend my hard earned $50 on games because they weren't total shit.  I expect better and the Wii just isn't delivering.

I actually do like the Wii, because I am a big fan of Nintendo games, and this system provides them on rare occasions.  The difference between this and the Gamecube is that in terms of third party games, you aren't even getting ports of PS2 or Xbox games anymore.  Someone who only owns a Wii as their main system really does have slim pickings for games worth playing; I am even using the term 'worth playing' really loosely here, considering I would say No More Heroes is 'worth playing' despite how bad many aspects of that game are.  I don't think Wii is a bad second console to a good PC, the 360, or even the PS3.  It is cheap, small, and can provides enjoyment every few months.

but I still don't understand the obsession with The Conduit.  Why is anyone excited about an FPS that looks to be below the level of something like Haze or Turok? It is so confusing.  If you want a good FPS game, buy a PC, 360, or PS3.

I wouldn't mind more budget arcade/puzzle games for the Wii like Boom Blox.  Simple games that can provide occasional amusement and are still enjoyable when you have company.  And more lightgun games.  I wouldn't mind it if Star Wars Arcade got ported or something either.

I've actually been enjoying my reWii so far.

House of the Dead 2 &3 are great fun, and I'll probably buy another controller/perfect shot setup for two-fisted action (and for co-op with my friend who also likes light gun games).

That Link shooting game I got for $5 was worth it, neat little time-killer.

I took back Super Mario Galaxy - got annoyed with running upside down after a while.  Just not for me.

I also took back RE4.  I owned it before I sold my Wii to demi, thought I'd give the control scheme another chance.  Nope, still don't like it, always find myself aiming at the ground and shit when lots of enemies get near.  I prefer the PS2 controls.

Took the return money (I take advantage of the 7 day Gamestop used game return policy all the time), and bought Mario Kart Wii.  That's actually a lot of goofy fun.  The wheel works well, at least for me.  I was surprised at the online multiplayer, it's one of the smoothest online experiences I've ever had.  I was connected and racing within twenty seconds.  As a bonus, I didn't have to hear anyone talk.

Gonna Gamefly most Wii games, or buy them used for cheap.  Think I'll try RE Umbrella Chronicles next, and after that Ghost Squad.

I guess the Wii is worth it to me for light gun games and a few other random FPS games like MOH: Heroes.  Can't complain about the graphics, really, considering I still play blocky-assed PS1 games on the PSP.  Looking forward to the new HotD: Overkill (that Sega dude's quote about it beating the shit out of horse grooming made me laugh).

I think there'll be some decent stuff in 2009, just not a lot.  Which is fine.  The Wii is my "whatever, whenever" machine, I'll do my in-depth console gaming on PS3 and 360.

Then again, there are no good games on WiiWare at all

Wii is terrible for real gamers and I'm not even ashamed to say that Nintendo used to be my favorite console gaming company.  They were one of the few console companies that weren't bringing out games that would be better on the PC.  Nintendo lost its way after the N64 lost the battle when it started to expand its market by catering to the Leapfrog consumers.

How could someone enjoy the GC and PS2 equally?  That just doesn't make sense.  The GC is Nintendo's worst console from a game perspective (er, well, it was until Wii hit) and the PS2 is Sony's best.  If you enjoyed them equally, it's only because you didn't try enough PS2 games.  PS2 absolutely stomped all comers in the games library department by a huuuuuuuuuuge margin.  I can probably spend the rest of my life playing catch-up ont he PS2 library, whereas I can play everything worth mentioning on the GC in the space of a few days.

wii is objectively the worst console ever. given infinite time, there are perhaps a half-dozen wii games it wouldn't kill you to play -- but your time is finite, you have access to other gaming platforms, and there's no reason wii should claim a moment of your attention. i'd sell mine if i weren't convinced that its absence would eventually reproduce the irrational consumerist void that caused me to buy the pos in the first place

liking gc and ps2 equally because you've only played a handful of ps2 games isn't an opinion; it's a lack of the information you'd need to form an opinion

I actually preferred the original game's battle mode.  Mind you, I haven't touched either in like a decade, but I recall the battle arenas in the N64 version being kinda crap, even though they were in 3D.  I remember being pretty disappointed, as the original game was one of my SNES favorites.  Again, this was like a decade ago, so who knows if what I thought is actually right.

I think that only MGS3 was really behind in terms of gameplay when it was released.  MGS2 had really impressive gameplay at the time, and I would actually argue that even today many aspects of the game are still impressive.

the 'soulfulness' of a mascot kart racing game is at zero or subzero by default -- it's not a relevant criterion. but mk64 battle mode on block fort was the kind of accessible but crunchy arcade multiplayer gaming that nintendo often aims for and misses. again, i'm convinced that this was an accidental success -- all the other maps are awful, and subsequent games have hardly bothered with battle mode

Mario Kart Wii was a step down from the DS version, which almost made me think the series had redeemed itself.  The new courses range from pitiful to barely passable.  The idea of 24 or so kart racers was a decent idea but instead of bringing back a couple of the Koopa Kids, they went the tard route and decided to go with Baby Luigi and Toadette.  Speaking of going the tard route, they completely fucked up the SNES courses.

The only fun thing about it was owning 12 year old Europeans online.  :gbcry

As much as I hate on the Wii and NIntendo, I'm one of those who thinks Nintendo didn't go REALLY downhil until the GC era.  Both the N64 and GC have great games at the end of their lives [which I doubt Wii will be so], but GC showed to me that Miyamoto was no longer important, and Nintendo had run out of ideas.

And for teh record, MK64 is my favorite MK series.  It was such a blast at the time. Same with Goldeneye.  Even if in hindsight, it's pretty damn overrated.

And PS2 is my favorite console of all time, obviously.  Now I wish there was a SNES/Genesis two-in-one machine.  Can anyone pick one? THere's just NES+SNES, or NES+Genesis, or something.  ANd I dont give a shit about 8bit outside of select few titles.

Speaking of which, handhelds sucked up until the GBA.

No, I still think the N64 was the beginning of their downfall.  After Ocarina of Time, Nintendo decided to make a bunch of no effort party games.  I guess you can count Majora's Mask and maybe, just maybe, Paper Mario as exceptions.  Didn't stop them from making several Mario Parties, Mario sports titles, and Pokemon Stadiums.  Nintendo just got lazy is all.  If they can make all these great sales from these half assed efforts, why bother trying?  That was pretty much their Game Cube philosophy.  Miyamoto was not important because you can rake in more money by releasing annual Mario Party titles.

Now Nintendo is even lazier.  They've abandoned even the complexities of the annual Mario themed party games and just went to the minimalist Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Wii Music.  Which makes me think that quality titles we got like Mario Galaxy are the best the Wii is ever going to get.  It is all downhill from here.

Nintendo didn't make those. Those games were either outsourced or made by second parties who focused on those titles.

Well, to be fair, after Ocarina of Time, every third party dev fully jumped ship to PS1. Nintendo had no choice but to make whatever they could as fast as they could (and as Crushed mentioned, the parties and shit were outsourced).

Though you are still somewhat correct since Nintendo's strategy after Ocarina was to make games cheaper, with smaller teams and churn them out much faster, since games like Ocarina took so much of Nintendo's resources.

Twilight Princess is not a good game.  Wind Waker may have been front-loaded, with all of the good content in the first half, but being back-loaded, like TP, just sucks.  TP is just a poorly designed game.  It's tied with OoT as the worst Zelda game.

At least they tried something different in the first half of Twilight Princess, the rest was just the usual run-o-the-mill Zeldaish going from Dungeon to Dungeon...

Wood Temple, Fire Temple, Water Temple, my ass...

TP just barely edges out OoT for me because of superior art and sound.

Other than that, yes, TP is pretty much tied with OoT for worst 3D Zelda. (Phantom Hourglass is the worst Zelda, both 2D and overall)

Yeah but that almost sounds worse.  Nintendo decided to give up and let HAL Laboratories or Hudson Soft do their games instead.  There was the Super Mario 64-2, which was announced since probably before the original's release, you had Earthbound 64 that never saw the light of day, etc.  Nintendo after Ocarina of Time axed any games that required any developer ambition.  This vision has continued to stick with Nintendo until Twilight Princess and even then, other than Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo has continued their vision of laziness.

At the end of the day, corporations just care about profit and Nintendo is raking it in.  Doesn't mean that I have to simply accept half baked software and software with stunted potential.  Not when there are three other platforms that are delivering in spades, well, two more than the other one.

Uh, except Nintendo's internal teams still worked on plenty of games that had no relation to parties or Pokemon.  ???

GameStop #6232
Littleton Commons
562 Meadow Street
Littleton NH, 03561 US

Distance: 21.32 miles

EDIT: And heres a little story about the Gamestop today form when I went:

A women comes in with her son and daughter and goes up to one of the Gamestop workers and was like "Can I ask a question?" He was like "Sure go ahead." She says "I was recently in Thailand and I bought one of these thigns for my son, the guy over there asked my son 20 games he wanted and put them on this little thing for him" and her son pulls out a M3 Real.  :lol She starts to ask the guy were she can get pirated games on the internet and he just said "Did you try google?" while trying to get her out of his store (she wanted him to FILL the cart up with games). I was secretly laughing, but then realized how much of a fucking nerd I am for knowing exactly what she wanted.

I only owned a PS2 last gen for about 5 months to play through a few exclusives I missed.  And even then, I was hardly impressed by Killzone/Ico/God of War.  Real gamers last gen played XBOX and maybe a little PC if they liked Excel a lot.

The original Xbox had lots of wonderful games, but seriously, the PS2 was THE console of the last generation.

Nostalgia aside, the PS2 is probably the best system to have ever been released.  The variety and volume of games, with dozens of classics, I don't know of a better system.  At least not without rose colored tinted glasses of youth who will probably say NES, SNES, or Genesis.

Oh for 95% of gamers I'd agree.  But I'm everythig kev and drohne despise about xbots.

I basically don't care for anything from Japan, fighting games, action platformers, or button mashers.  I'll play kiddie games when I have a kid and if I am at a party, I don't want to play a damn videogame.  I am a lapsed PC gamer who wanted shooters on a console.  I bought a HDTV and updated my AVR/speaker setup for XBOX's superior home theater capabilities.  I admit to being shallow.

hey  :maf

i'm plenty shallow! i dislike xbots because they're friggen annoying! you're not going to tell me you didn't see benbird's "hey, too human is fun" avatar and didn't want to smash him in the face. or his other avatars. or his phrasing. actually if you've seen one of his posts i'm sure you identify.

i don't hate xbots any more than i hate any other fanbots; i still find salestards the most annoying, then ntards, extreme xbots, then the sony fans that attack me for disliking major sony franchise iterations like ratchet, then regular xbots and sonytards.

i still do like 90% of my gaming on a 360!

360 woot! go 360! chugga chugga

I did most of my gaming on PS2 last gen but always multiplatform gaming on the Xbox. My collections were about equal until 2005 when I started snatching up cheap PS2 games (and I continue to snatch them up...I just bought Extermination for 2.80 yesterday). Now I have a ton of PS2 games and I haven't really bought much on Xbox (but I still buy them when I see 'em cheap, got Indigo Prophecy and Megaman Anniversary this summer). I only have a few GC games.

Wind Waker was probably the beginning of Nintendo using weird ass gimmicks just for the sake of using them, I think (just one of the many problems WW suffered). The first thing that comes to mind is playing the baton EVERY TIME to change friggin direction. Horrible, horrible game design. I didn't care for Majora's Mask's 3-day system, but at least I could understand what they were going for. Wind Waker's sailing mechanic was just unnecessary.

It's not that many. Over 19 months? It's like 3 games a month basically. I think my exact history says 54 games or so, a lot of them I will rent, pop in, and then return right away (same day even).

I don't really understand people who don't have gamefly that play a lot of games. If you buy a lot, renting and using the keep it option would save you hundreds a year.

I think Half Life came out on the PS2  :S  It's not the best FPS on the platform, but Killzone is the only one worth playing.  Timesplitters and such are better games, but they are also better on XBOX.  That'd actually be a good discussion, but I'm too scared to make a list thread on Evilbore.  That's Icon territory.

HL1 on the PS2 was a really good port.  It had some upgraded character models from the original HL2 and a split-screen mode.

Medal of Honor was also pretty good if you couldn't play the PC version (which was completely different).

There's some nice stuff for GB actually:
-FFL2
-FFA
-Link's Awakening
-Mole Mania
-Balloon Kid
-Gargoyle's Quest
-Super Mario Land 2

And GBC had the DQ remixes, which were really good, along with the Oracles games.
I think thats what I said. Handhelds held [lol pun] no interest for me up until the GBA came out.  Starting from GBA it was all uphill

In fact I even tempted to think GBA > DS, were it not for the BC and the cuter shell variety of the DS.

@experiment: yeah no doubt that n64 heralded nintendo's downfallness, but it didn't really hit big and hard until teh GC.

and for the record: Link Awakening is an overrated 8bit gimped clone of Link to the PAst, which is not only the greatest Zelda, but also the greatest implementation of the now-cliched Dark/light gimmick, and also the greatest Zelda ever.

There were 4 Ultramix games.  First one was blah but was really just a "best hits" sort of mix for people without PS2s.  Ultramix 2 was amazing and definitely the best of the Xbox mixes, excellent variety of songs, some good innovations.  The last two were decent, building off of UM2.  I didn't like 4 that much but I realize that it was more or less just a stepping stone for Universe.

I forgot how embarrassingly easy the Zelda games were.  I tried playing them last year and and i though "Jesus you were more hardcore than this" and I played Thunderforce IV until my eyes started to bleed and I woke up in Tauntaun's basement three days later.

Which ones? The 2D ones? LA is embarrasingly easy. From what I heard everyone talk about, I was expecting the puzzles to be a tad more challenging than they were.

Even with nostalgia, the PS2 is still the best console ever.

It has several great games in every single genre. What more can you ask for?

My Nostalgia would say "Commodore Amiga". But yeah, probably the PS2 is where it's at...

Well when you spend your time criticisizing the library instead of uhh playing said games, its understandable why you wouldnt have a use for it. Ive brought about a game a month this summer except for august and found my purchases to be enjoyable. Looking forward to dual wielding samba, kings story, skate it, simcity creator, new HOTD, animal crossing, some virtual console releases, etc. The only major issue is that lack of storage space means I wont be downloading a few wiiware games that look interesting.

what's the best FPS on ps2? Black?

I have to admit I like killzone but I understand it's really heavily flawed.

PS2 has the superior versions of Deus Ex and half-life 1.

Yeah, they added some CG cutscenes, autoaim, and some other things. I don't remember if they changed the graphics.

But regarding HL1, you can get the HiDef pack for PC free on Steam (doesn't work with HL:Source, just the original version, OpFor, and Blue Shift): http://steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=posts&id=438&

The difference between the PS2 and HiDef models is very small:

Ignoring the shovelware problem, I'm still befuddled by Nintendo's lack of first-party development. They have many different internal dev teams and second party studios. Are they just sticking to some new policy of not announcing games a long time before release? It's easy to say, "lolol they're all working on casual games," but the three internally-developed games known about (Animal Crossing, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort) are all handled by the same team!

I can understand that some teams just finished a project and don't have anything yet (like the Mario Kart team), or that the ones involved in big projects like Mario (EAD Tokyo), Zelda (Aonuma's EAD team), and Metroid (was Retro but Prime is over), take a lot of time... but there's still several groups and second parties left. Some are working on DS games or just finished said DS games, but considering Nintendo's size and that the teams have the capacity to work on several console and handheld projects at once, I can't imagine that all that manpower would be exhausted by stuff like Rhythm Tengoku or Fire Emblem DS.

It's baffling. What the hell are they doing?

List all the games you've bought for it in the last six months.

No More Heroes
HOTD 1&2
Smash Brawl
Mariokart
WiiFit
Destroy All Humans
PES 2008
Okami
Boom Blox
Blast Works
Mariokart
Order Up!
We Love Golf
zack and wiki
battle of the bands
Toki Tori
My Life As A King
Critter Roundup
Defend Your Castle
Family Table Tennis
Block Breaker Deluxe
Ill omit VC titles
I will admit Ive traded alot of that back in (WiiFit stays. Brawl is gone ). But Ive enjoyed the ride. And Ive managed to accumulate about 9 games over the course of the system's lifespan that I consider highly replayable which suits me fine. If I liked using the nunchuck I could add even more for that total (prime 3, galaxy). This constant fix of AAA software many of you possess is indicative of neurotic expectations. If the library doesnt suit you, thats fine. I just find hivemind bitching in general to be irritating.

Most of those games are ports, suck, are $10 dlc diversions, or are Mario Kart relisted

SSBB, Mario Kart, and Boom Blox for 6 months

Oh or We Love Golf, too bad HSG5 and Open Tee 2 are prolly better

I had boom blox in may, blast works in june, and we love golf/order up! in July. Theyre all fun. And please dont knock toki tori for being dlc. Its awesomesauce. PES was good shit too.

And yes most of the games I listed are mediocre, but nevertheless I wanted to try it out. For instance, I liked the gameplay setup for battle of the bands, but the waggle controls themselves were exhausting. Id like to see the concept revisted.

Three years on and we're still left with half-realized game concepts, where's the beef?

If even Wii's most forgiving fans are forced to admit that Wii barely has a use outside of gimmicks and rentals, how can you be shocked by the reception it gets from others?

I've turned on my Wii like 3 times since May, shit's lame. And I was considered an apologist up through holiday 2007.

Of course, outside of Nintendo,  developers still havent come to grips with the system entirely. Look at the quality of Galaxy. Compare to anything third party. Its certainly possible to do a competent wii game but most developers are personally invested in the hd platforms succeeding. But then Boom Blox and Order Up and Blast Works comes along and suddenly everything is starting to gel.  Samba and Sim City next month too.  The games fit the system perfectly and show that despite Nintendo scaling back, other small developers are coming to terms with what works on the system.

Im not shocked. Said whining is based on a jehova's complex.  They live their lives expecting someone else to entertain them with a new fix every month. Im not saying the system is better than another. For someone who wants 1-2 high profile releases every month, the xbox is an astronomicaly better choice. But as a game machine, the wii suits me.  But thats because I dont constantly need novelty. I just replay games that I like.

Whatever, I'll bet you bitches didn't even buy Blast Works and other innovative titles, complain about the lack of software and then don't buy the niche but quality titles that do get released.

Anyone who says PES was just a "port" obviously hasn't played it.  PES for Wii is the best Winning Eleven game in years, the control scheme is absolutely fantastic and it plays a hell of a lot better than the PS360 versions.

I still say that the Wii is like the DS, first couple of years are rough but once the big titles come, it'll be more consistent.  It's probably going to be led by Japanese support for awhile, and I think that we'll get a lot of announcements at TGS this year.

I don't see why everyone is selling their Wii like they'll lose street cred if they still have it.  If you need the money, fine, but it's not like owning a Wii is going to make your gaming experience worse or something.  You'll all be buying them again once Mad World and other titles come out anyway.

If TGS comes and goes without any big Wii announcements, then I'd start to be concerned.

What really disappoints me with the Wii is the lack of RPGs.. you'd think the most successful home console in Japan (hell, the world), with a low barrier of entry for development, would be overflowing with them. But, there's not really much in the way of traditional RPG releases, either released or in the pipeline. Thank god I own a DS and a 360.

Mario Kart was a big disappointment... especially after the awesome DS game (my favorite in the series). It went overboard on the gimmicky/stupid items. The thunder, the lakitu, the blue shell (the only shit item in the DS game), the POW, and most importantly the Bullet Bill.

Anybody here ever play Baroque? Is it any good? My friend bought it for me for my bday but I haven't opened it yet.

RPGs aren't exactly the easiest genre to make, but at the frequency at which they appear at PS2 and DS, I don't think that's the issue with the Wii.  They do take some lead-in time though.  I think that we'll be seeing more of them as time goes by, already we have Symphonia 2 coming, Crystal Bearers looks really nice, and there's the new Rune Factory and and that RPG that just got announced this week.  There's probably some other stuff that I'm missing, but once the RPGs come and sell decently I think that the Wii will follow the DS with lots of 'em.  Hell, the first few DS years was hurtin for an RPG too, I remember having to play games like Deep Labyrinth and Tao's adventure to get my fix, but now we're swimming in them.  Wasn't FF3 the first real "big" RPG for the system?

The Fire Emblem Wii game is really good, a shame that most people didn't take notice of it.  The Chocobo Dungeon is also better than one might expect, and I liked Baroque.

Mario Kart Wii's biggest flaws, besides the track design, is the CPU cheapness.  If you think 100cc is cheap, wait until you do Extra.  Getting hit with dozens of blue shells is not good gameplay.

The Fire Emblem Wii game is really good, a shame that most people didn't take notice of it.  The Chocobo Dungeon is also better than one might expect, and I liked Baroque.

Exactly.  Chocobo Dungeons was dismissed as a game not worth your time on the PlayStation but now that it is on Wii, it is now considered acceptable.

Mario Kart DS I'd say.  MKDS is still the best one in the series.

The shitty thing about multiplayer is that there are no cup races.  You just pick four tracks.  I suppose you can select a single cup for your four races but this is even a feature Super Mario Kart had but is lacking in the Wii version.

It is a solid 7 game.

I just remembered something that sucks about the Wii, but I've never seen it mentioned by any media blogs or sites. Virtual console games are glitchy as hell. I have SMB3 and there is fuzziness around one of the edges of the screen at all times. And there are random interferences in the picture quality as well.

You think so?  Besides AWDS and Castlevania, I really wasn't feeling much of the DS library at first.  Yea, we had quirky games like Feel the Magic and Kirby Canvas Curse, but overall there were more misses than hits and it took a long time for the stream of constant quality software to come out.  Developers were trying to force touch screen and other nonsense, similar to how they tried to do it with the Wii in the first year, but they seem to slowly be finding better ways around that.  I see the parallels and am hoping that the trend will continue with the Wii.

Exactly.  Chocobo Dungeons was dismissed as a game not worth your time on the PlayStation but now that it is on Wii, it is now considered acceptable.

Never played the PSX or Wii one, series doesn't interest me.  Regardless, from what people have said, it's a pretty decent roguelike game and better than you might think from the series.  Has anyone here played it to comment otherwise?  Just because the PSX games weren't good (was that even the case?), doesn't mean that the Wii version automatically would be just as bad.  I enjoyed Baroque so maybe I'd like that kind of game more, obviously it isn't for everyone.  Either way, FE is still an excellent game and tends to be overlooked.

What itches me as a Wii only gamer is, that the used software prices are so steep here in Germany.
You can get most of the older system sellers on PS360 for around 20 to 25 Euros, some new Platinum ones for even 30 Euros.

Wii games rarely get below 30 Euros used here, even in Gamestop and the like.

Zack and Wiki is even still fullprice here... And used price is around 35...
