if my daughter ever asks where the doggy game went, i'm kicking her outside to play in the bramble pile.
Save your money for an 80gig PS3 with BC, or an iPhone.
Consumerism fucking rules.
i would never sell a console :'(

I don't sell consoles. Especially not ones with Super Mario Galaxy.
Besides, I still have a lot of Gamecube games.

You mean he can just keep the cheaper easier to find Gamecube that has a lot of games and is more enjoyable instead of the Wii which is the polar opposite, while keeping his money? I never really thought of it that way. Thanks for the insight.
now these children will grow up hating games, and so you will ensure the collapse of the gaming industry
Well my second asshole is slowly going away so nah!
system and an extra controller and a classic controller and resident evil 4.
Did that $262 include all the games or just the system.
I think I got screwed the most, I sold the system for $235.
Selling the Wii is the best idea anyone with two or more functional brain cells can do right now. It is one of the few rare moments where you can play though what is going to be the best of its library (it won't get any better on the Wii than Super Mario Galaxy) and then sell it at a minor loss or a profit. If you're that desperate to play Wario Land Wii or Twilight Princess 2, you can just buy it for $10 sealed when you get the Wiii, or on an emulator.

what about if a person has an entire library of wii games that they like to play through when they feel like it, and is looking forward to many more wii games in the near future
loving videogames means not tolerating crap

EDIT:
:piss Hotel Dusk :piss2
I don't know how many good Wii games there are. I can think of 4 or 5 that will hold up after six months of release. Most of the "OMG Wii has a ton of good games" are the DS fanboys that thought C-Grade games like Hotel Dusk are considered classics. In other words, if it is remotely playable, it is now considered awesome. I don't care to spend my hard earned $50 on games because they weren't total shit. I expect better and the Wii just isn't delivering.
fix'd
you didn't answer my question. ps2 or gamecube: which would you pick?
he is a dirty ninthing, i no longer consider crushed worth taking seriously
Go buy a Dreamcast
That goes for everyone in this thread.

that is because you are a ninthing and did not experience the full ps2 library, preferring to spend your idle hours abusing your gamer cred by playing smash brothers. your ninthingery led you down this path, and therefore it defines you. i am lowering myself to even speak to you. you are the lowest caste of gamer.
What I don't get is why some of you would WANT third parties to dedicate resources to work on Wii games. I mean, doesn't that go against the whole wanting games in HD thing?

Did you do the Twilight Hack?
hey, i'm just relating my own opinion

My opinion is that you should look into the PS2 library, which you apparently haven't.

eh, i bought the ps2 games which interested me, no reason for me to buy ones i don't want
I want CarnEvil on the Wii
they had that game at the bowling alley here in town, great cheesy fun
This sounds like an evolution of the old GC/N64-era Ninthing excuse of I DON'T NEED TOO MANY GAMES TO PLAY ANYWAY. You drank so much koolaid that you believe it now.

No, if I was interested in those games I'd buy them. I remember being VERY frustrated by lack of games on the N64, and I've always wanted to own multiple consoles if I had a chance. ???
why does everyone hate mario kart wii, it's a lot of fun to me
i haven't played a lot of the mario kart games, so i guess i'm not bored with the series
i think i might pick up brothers in arms doubletime as a rental next month, too
the bia games aren't bc on 360 (fuck you for stopping your bc updates, MS), and i've read that bia: earned in blood won't play correctly on vista at all
the ps2 versions were awful
i want to play through them again before i get into hell's highway, though

I think you can get the last BIA PC game for free if you pre-order the last one on Steam.
Have you considered that maybe you just don't like games? I mean, some of the few games you played on PS2 are MGS games.

I think that is the reason.
Mario Kart Wii is basically a simpler version of Mario Kart DS, and that is why I didn't really enjoy it too much. If I ever want to play Mario Kart, I have it on my DS.
who wants to play anything on the ds when there's the PSP?
And who wants to play Mario Kart DS when Crash Team Racing is on PSP

Oh har har. ::)
n64 battle mode was mario kart's one moment of accidental brilliance. will the rest of the series please deposit itself in the shïtbin thank you
TVC is actually one of the few MGS fans here so he wasn't trolling about there being better stuff to play on the PS2.
MGS is one of my favorite series but the games have always been kinda crap in terms of gameplay mechanics.

The hardware may be garbage
Speaking of PSP, I am thinking about buying one to use as a portable emulation machine with a few legit PSP games on the side.
Worth it?
psp is awesome, does a great job emulating
there's even a decent comic reader you can hack into it
There's been a PSP drought for 2yrs. People can't complain though since they get their PSP games for free.

As much as I hate on the Wii and NIntendo, I'm one of those who thinks Nintendo didn't go REALLY downhil until the GC era. Both the N64 and GC have great games at the end of their lives [which I doubt Wii will be so], but GC showed to me that Miyamoto was no longer important, and Nintendo had run out of ideas.
And for teh record, MK64 is my favorite MK series. It was such a blast at the time. Same with Goldeneye. Even if in hindsight, it's pretty damn overrated.
And PS2 is my favorite console of all time, obviously. Now I wish there was a SNES/Genesis two-in-one machine. Can anyone pick one? THere's just NES+SNES, or NES+Genesis, or something. ANd I dont give a shit about 8bit outside of select few titles.
Speaking of which, handhelds sucked up until the GBA.
Didn't stop them from making several Mario Parties, Mario sports titles, and Pokemon Stadiums.
No, I still think the N64 was the beginning of their downfall. After Ocarina of Time, Nintendo decided to make a bunch of no effort party games. I guess you can count Majora's Mask and maybe, just maybe, Paper Mario as exceptions. Didn't stop them from making several Mario Parties, Mario sports titles, and Pokemon Stadiums. Nintendo just got lazy is all. If they can make all these great sales from these half assed efforts, why bother trying? That was pretty much their Game Cube philosophy. Miyamoto was not important because you can rake in more money by releasing annual Mario Party titles.
Now Nintendo is even lazier. They've abandoned even the complexities of the annual Mario themed party games and just went to the minimalist Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Wii Music. Which makes me think that quality titles we got like Mario Galaxy are the best the Wii is ever going to get. It is all downhill from here.
My sister was enjoying Indiana Jones Lego yesterday. You're Portuguese, right?
I guess the console ain't all that bad. Not selling.
Twilight Princess is not a good game. Wind Waker may have been front-loaded, with all of the good content in the first half, but being back-loaded, like TP, just sucks. TP is just a poorly designed game. It's tied with OoT as the worst Zelda game.

Phantom Hourglass is the worst Zelda, both 2D and overall
Well, to be fair, after Ocarina of Time, every third party dev fully jumped ship to PS1. Nintendo had no choice but to make whatever they could as fast as they could (and as Crushed mentioned, the parties and shit were outsourced).
Though you are still somewhat correct since Nintendo's strategy after Ocarina was to make games cheaper, with smaller teams and churn them out much faster, since games like Ocarina took so much of Nintendo's resources.
hahaha, ok dude
I don't think you're trolling
it's just anecdotal evidence, though
for instance, it took me two weeks to find a wii here in wilmington nc
then toys r us got some in and i walked right in and bought one
those wiis won't be there once the holiday season starts proper, and you won't see any more on the shelves until after christmas
I only owned a PS2 last gen for about 5 months to play through a few exclusives I missed. And even then, I was hardly impressed by Killzone/Ico/God of War. Real gamers last gen played XBOX and maybe a little PC if they liked Excel a lot.
The original Xbox had lots of wonderful games, but seriously, the PS2 was THE console of the last generation.
too human is fun though. eat your crow like a veiny dick

Let me refer you!
They're currently trying to dick me over with refusing to let me adjust my membership plan due to some stupid bullshit, but I've rented and returned more than 60 games from them since March 2007. I wouldn't be able to afford food if it weren't for them.

Wow, looks like Gamefly is the only GF you'll ever have.

It's not that many. Over 19 months? It's like 3 games a month basically. I think my exact history says 54 games or so, a lot of them I will rent, pop in, and then return right away (same day even).
I don't really understand people who don't have gamefly that play a lot of games. If you buy a lot, renting and using the keep it option would save you hundreds a year.
I've heard lots of good things about Gametap. A similar service for consoles would be pretty cool but I doubt it'll ever happen.
Nostalgia aside, the PS2 is probably the best system to have ever been released. The variety and volume of games, with dozens of classics, I don't know of a better system. At least not without rose colored tinted glasses of youth who will probably say NES, SNES, or Genesis.
Even with nostalgia, the PS2 is still the best console ever.
It has several great games in every single genre. What more can you ask for?
Narrow it down to best exclusive FPS on the PS2. So Black, HL2, and Red Faction are out.
I can't really think of too many outside of Killzone.
I think thats what I said. Handhelds held [lol pun] no interest for me up until the GBA came out. Starting from GBA it was all uphillAs much as I hate on the Wii and NIntendo, I'm one of those who thinks Nintendo didn't go REALLY downhil until the GC era. There's some nice stuff for GB actually:
-FFL2
-FFA
-Link's Awakening
-Mole Mania
-Balloon Kid
-Gargoyle's Quest
-Super Mario Land 2
And GBC had the DQ remixes, which were really good, along with the Oracles games.
Well Gametap will be shutting down at the end of the year so :-\wait WATT
and for the record: Link Awakening is an overrated 8bit gimped clone of Link to the PAst, which is not only the greatest Zelda, but also the greatest implementation of the now-cliched Dark/light gimmick, and also the greatest Zelda ever.
:piss Gameboyized versions of console games

I enjoyed music games the most last gen, and the Xbox had a grand total of 7, so I had to go with the PS2.
The xbox music games:
Xbox Music Mixer (Terrible. Lips will be just as bad)
Karaoke Revolution (Amazing, but on PS2)
Karaoke Revolution Party (Better on PS2)
In the Groove (lol)
DDR Ultramix
DDR Ultramix 2 (both terrible)
MTV Music Generator 2 (better on PS2)
I forgot how embarrassingly easy the Zelda games were. I tried playing them last year and and i though "Jesus you were more hardcore than this" and I played Thunderforce IV until my eyes started to bleed and I woke up in Tauntaun's basement three days later.
Even with nostalgia, the PS2 is still the best console ever.

what's the best FPS on ps2? Black?
I have to admit I like killzone but I understand it's really heavily flawed.

PS2 has the superior versions of Deus Ex and half-life 1.
Holy fuck a new Freddi Fish :o
List all the games you've bought for it in the last six months.
Most of those games are ports, suck, are $10 dlc diversions, or are Mario Kart relisted
:gloomy
SSBB, Mario Kart, and Boom Blox for 6 months
Oh or We Love Golf, too bad HSG5 and Open Tee 2 are prolly better
Three years on and we're still left with half-realized game concepts, where's the beef?
If even Wii's most forgiving fans are forced to admit that Wii barely has a use outside of gimmicks and rentals, how can you be shocked by the reception it gets from others?
I've turned on my Wii like 3 times since May, shit's lame. And I was considered an apologist up through holiday 2007.

The Fire Emblem Wii game is really good, a shame that most people didn't take notice of it. The Chocobo Dungeon is also better than one might expect, and I liked Baroque.
Whatever, I'll bet you bitches didn't even buy Blast Works and other innovative titles, complain about the lack of software and then don't buy the niche but quality titles that do get released.
Anyone who says PES was just a "port" obviously hasn't played it. PES for Wii is the best Winning Eleven game in years, the control scheme is absolutely fantastic and it plays a hell of a lot better than the PS360 versions.
I still say that the Wii is like the DS, first couple of years are rough but once the big titles come, it'll be more consistent. It's probably going to be led by Japanese support for awhile, and I think that we'll get a lot of announcements at TGS this year.
I don't see why everyone is selling their Wii like they'll lose street cred if they still have it. If you need the money, fine, but it's not like owning a Wii is going to make your gaming experience worse or something. You'll all be buying them again once Mad World and other titles come out anyway.
If TGS comes and goes without any big Wii announcements, then I'd start to be concerned.

folks, this is the very dictionary definition of "settling for less"
it'll be fun in multiplayer when my nongaming or casual gaming friends come over, but yeah after 50cc it is fuck frustrating with all the cheap shots and last-second race-stealing
this is probably the only mario kart game i will ever buy, do you really need more than one
DS had great games coming out consistently by the end of its first full year ont he market, and it got even better in the following year. Wii's first year had tons of great titles and then there were no more big budget AAA titles again.
Exactly. Chocobo Dungeons was dismissed as a game not worth your time on the PlayStation but now that it is on Wii, it is now considered acceptable.
