Awesome, I didn't realise this had a date in Europe too. I loved the first one, Yalkuza 2 will be mine on day 1. STEP DA FOCK OP

Apparently there is software BC coming to the PS3 now.  Probably will be out in the distant future.

My Ps2 doesn't play original games anymore. ??? Otherwise I'd be all over that, since I've also imported the first game.

Can't wait to play this game.

In many ways, Yakuza is what Shenmue should have been.  So it makes sense to be frustrated with the ambitious stumblings of Shenmue but appreciate how those aspects were refined and streamlined in Yakuza.

I'm so buying this.  Loved Yakuza 1, but it wasn't quite perfect.

The random encounters became bothersome halfway through, the VA's weren't so great, the plot got kinda ridiculous...

1. Faster loading!! Random battles in the street still take place, but they take just a second to load. Story based battles take a little longer, but it's not as bad as in Yakuza 1.

2. You can cancel your move mid combo and change directions so you don't end up hitting air! Yes!  :punch No more hitting air!

3. The Japanese voice acting REALLY adds to the game a lot. I watched the 20 minute or so long recap of Yakuza 1, it all has voice acting and every thing, and damn the voice acting really adds to the game. The English voice acting for the first game wasn't even *bad* per se, it was just that the script was awful! They flung the word fuck every sentence! This has been decreased dramatically. The only time Kazuma has even said "fuck" so far was in a flashback which was taken right from Yakuza 1 anyways. The only person so far that even uses curses is a punk. Even then, he doesn't use it nearly as much as people did in Yakuza 1.

I just ran into a thug in Yakuza 2 and he says "Guy like you should know yer place. Quit strutin' around like a damn peacock." The dialogue choices are: "Oh, sorry about that" and "I peacocked your mom."

Does there seem to be as much side shit to do as in the original?  New locales or anything?  Does the majority of the game take place in the same neighborhood?

There's a new city, and the old city too.

I'm on chapter 2 and it's already pretty much opened up a bit. Went to Club Sega, did a UFO catcher sidequest for some guy and got 30,000 yen as a reward. When to play golf and talk to people. I imagine it'll open up even more later on.

The lip syncing rocks.

The video quality in the cut scenes is super compressed... they look like crap.  I wonder if this is a result of going from two DVDs in the Japanese release to one DVD for the US release.

I'm not that far into the game yet, but I'm loving it so far. 
I'm so glad they released this in the US.  I went to pick it up today at a local Gamestop.  I hadn't preordered and was hoping they'd have an extra copy.  The guy there said nobody had preordered it and they only got one copy in their shipment.  Lucky me.

this game sucks, sent it back today. the sequel does nothing to improve the horribleness of the first one. sega tards remain on suicide watch.

I can't get into this game because the fighting style of the dude is horrible, and the battles happen like it was a RPG with random encounters, there's a loading screen and shit.

Until they change those two things, i won't be able to enjoy the game.

I love shenmue and i think Yakuza ain't got shit on it. And shenmue was about martial arts, Yakuza is about beating people with bats and shit, ugh, horrible.
